Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Marvel/DC

Ayer was lucky he got to cut the final version of the movie! This is almost on par with Fant4stic in how butchered the editing was. I love DC, I loved the BvS Ultimate Cut, the theatrical suffered from Studio's forcing the 2.5hr cut which resulted in similar editing issues.
But how do they allow this to happen? Did it just come to the point of the deadline and they were like "Yup this is what we have to put out now" since they had to lighten up a little?
If they wanted to learn anything from the BvS theatrical release, they should have let Ayer do his thing.
I have respect for DC and what they are doing but I swear if Justice League and Wonder Woman suffer the same, theatrical fate, I'm done seeing these movies in theaters.
It's only after we've lost everything that we're free to do anything.

it suffered from worse editing issues than BvS, because with BvS it was about condensing the film, SS was about changing the film to be something else.

Well considering how different the perception of the plot is in BvS in the 3-Hr cut, I'd say they did that with BvS as well

i suppose, personally all the 3 hour cut did was flesh out some aspects, an improvement of course, but not a grand one.

I'll be honest here, I loved BvS despite its issues, the Ultimate Cut really cleaned it up nicely where it was hurting the most.
But my biggest issue with this movie is that it just wasn't the movie I wanted it to be, it was just the movie that needed to be. They could have incorporated so much from the DCU into this movie but they chose an extremely different route. They followed the comics really closely in some aspects and then took their own direction in others.
It's like a weird mix between the tone of Man of Steel and The Dark Knight but with a new Batman. Like I said I loved the movie but damn they could have done so much more with it and I really hope they go all out with Justice League because I want that movie to be everything it can.
It's only after we've lost everything that we're free to do anything.

I like bvs, i like what it attempted to do, and somethings it did well.
But my main issues lie with the script and it being not fully realized, and the tedious pacing, and i say if the script was richer the pacing would feel like less of an issue.
The tone was never an issue with bvs, however the tone
              is
an issue with SS as well as editing. And you're right they could have done a lot more with BvS, so hopefully Terrio and whoever else is helping him finally had the opportunity to sit down and write a fuller JL script.

Ayer was the problem, not the studio. Can you blame a studio for wanting to try and save a movie that was being crapped together? What Ayer turned in was garbage. Maybe they should have "interfered" earlier?

Since we don't know what Ayer's picture would've looked like you are speaking from total ignorance.
Unless you are a studio head you can't possibly know what you're talking about.

LOL, this b.s. again, where a hack director makes himself out to be some brilliant talent whose masterpiece was messed up by studio interference.

I don't care why it suckled any more as long as we all acknowledge that it sucked.
