It's still on and I have never seen this version before. The biggest extra scene (so far) is Superman at the Fortress of solitude having a conversation with his father saying he enjoyed the experience of saving people.
The music score sounds a little different in places too.
Goodness knows what version this is.

I have never seen this version before.
It happens quite frequently these days, and it is going to happen more and more.
First Cut. Director's Cut. Theatrical Cut. Unrated Cut. TV Cut. Foreign Cut. Special Edition (George Lucas Editions LOL!) And even with all that, there are still Deleted Scenes from the "Work Print".
      Ever hear of these things?
Goodness knows what version this is.
I have heard of three versions, but there is probably more There is the
      USA Theatrical Cut.
      The Television Cut.
Expanded Edition Cut (from the 2000 DVD).
The biggest extra scene (so far) is Superman at the Fortress of solitude having a conversation with his father saying he enjoyed the experience of saving people.
I know that was featured on the
Expanded Edition Cut (from the 2000 DVD).
Have you seen the Gauntlet Sequence?
Superman goes to Lex's Hideout Superman faces Machine Guns, a Furnace, and is Frozen in a block of ice.
That was also featured on the
Expanded Edition Cut (from the 2000 DVD).
There are some other things too, and there is some minor differences in music.
I actually like the Expanded Edition Cut (from the 2000 DVD).

Thanks -sounds like the 2000 DVD version as a gauntlet sequence was included along with a sequence with school kids running away from a collapsing Hollywood sign.
To be honest - although interesting - I prefer the original UK cut without these scenes as they seemed liked padding and didn't improve the film.
I doubt the channel even bothered to look at which cut they were showing.

I have the version you're referring to on VHS. Growing up, I had two copies: One copy that came by itself, in one that white foam looking casing; and also one that came as part of a boxed set of all four Reeve movies. I noticed even as a kid that the one in the boxed set had a few scenes that the other didn't. Both of the scenes described above (Luthor's gauntlet and the Jor-El fortress conversation) are among these, as well as one where we find out that the little girl on the train that young Clark outraces is actually a young Lois Lane: "Golly mommy, that boy was running as fast as the train! Faster, even!" "Ha! Lois Lane, you do have a writer's gift of invention!"

"Trust me, Clark. Our friendship is going to be the stuff of legends." Lex Luthor

To be honest I prefer the version without the gauntlet and extra scenes on the fortress of solitude although I'm not sure why Lane's comment was cut.

I wonder that too Especially since her parents were played by Noel Neill and Kirk Alyn.

Noel Neill only died in July 2016 at the amazing age of 95
