With his hands up and using boxing techniques and whatnot? He just looked like a drunk in a bar fight when he was fighting Diamondback. Also, why did he not just hit Diamondback's exposed chin?

No, it's called "if he fights like that with his level of strength he'd kill someone in one punch, so he actively avoids actually throwing any real moves at people."

Someone update the Wiki definition of "bad writing" to include situations where some random viewer would have done something different.

You do know that Luke has superstrength and his punch would kill a normal person (like Diamondback's power glove did when he killed that police officer, and later when he killed Damon Boone).

            This.
Season 1 Luke is still inexperienced in the use of his powers and probably cant gauge his strength with a whole lot of confidence. Its not like he actively trains in the use of that ability.
Season 1 Daredevil started out as a fairly sloppy fighter who got progressively more proficient throughout the episodes. Hopefully we will see similar development with Luke once he starts to butt heads with more superhumans or star wars tech users.

That's probably why it was so easy for Diamondback to frame Luke for killing that police officer and later Damon Boone.
Incidentally, the OP's question is wrong. Luke DOES fight the same way he did in prison. That's why Shades recognized who he was when he fought off Cottonmouth's guys at the club: because Luke's fighting style actually hasn't changed much, if at all.

Good point. Although that brings the question why he was such a sloppy fighter while in prison.
Its one thing when he is stepping on egg shells, still unacustomed to his strength and constantly worried about pulping people. But something entirely diffterent when he is at a human strength level. I dont see why not more work was put into the prison fight choreohraphy. Sure he isnt Matt Murdock, but Luke was still shown actively training for and winning several pit fights. That would develop a rather technical fighter, regardless of how advanced or simplistic his skill set was.
Its kind of ironic considering how comics version Luke started out as a self taught brawler, but was still a famously skilled fighter on those merits alone.

He was in those Prison boxing matches before he got his powers . He didn't have his Super strength at that time. But since he got his powers he's be very careful with his powers .

Which is why i asked why he fought more sloppy then. Especially since he was clearly shown training actively for the fight circuit.
