Deadshot as seen on the suicide squad materials lately has been an anti-hero rather than a villain. We got a part of that with will smith's performance, unfortunately they didn't develop the character further to see more of this.
In any case, good on not being a villain. -

I liked him as whoever he was playing. He wasn't playing Deadshot. It was Will Smith playing Will Smith and saying and doing lot of Will Smith things. More power to him, though, he's so charismatic that he can play it the same in each movie and sell it, so it did work.

Keanu Reeves would be an much better Deadshot.
HahaI can imagine him saying "Whoa Deja Vu!" when they were in the tall building with the stairwell scene. It's the same set as in The Matrix if I'm not mistaken. -

Not really.
I thought Will Smith just played Will Smith.
His character had very little resemblance to the comic book character of Deadshot, who isn't really a wise-cracking nice-guy-at-heart at all.

Yeah I immediately thought that Will Smith probably demanded his character to be changed to be more likable, cool and nice-guy-at-heart as you say. He doesn't fit the role of a psychopath at all. Imho it was a really bad portrayal both through acting and writing. And all this talk of the "street" was cringey too.

No, he was not amazing at all, except amazingly bad.
He played the role with too much emotional conviction, like he was the big hero who knew what was right. When in reality, he was supposed to be playing an emotionless psychopath. This movie was a prime example of people not knowing how bad guys are supposed to act. The only character who seemed like a believable reformed killer was the fire guy. Damn soft, rich people in Hollywood. -

He wasn't bad but the problem with Will Smith is all his characters are basically Will Smith. You can never look at him and not think thats Will Smith.
