Will the DC universe ever be ready for a good (and by good, we mean terrifying) laugh?
Warner Bros. is cranking up development on a number of new DC movies, with everything from a "women of the DC universe"-style project to Cyborg and Aquaman features in various stages of development. The Joker has been around for decades, and is arguably among the most recognizable (and frightening) characters in all of popular culture. He's been played by everyone from Jack Nicholson to Mark Hamill over the years, and the latest version by Jared Leto sent fans into a tizzy (for a few reasons).
But will the Clown Prince of Crime ever get his shot at solo glory? At this point, we don't really think so. And there are more than a few reasons why.

      No there wount be one
they missed the opportunity already. Funny thing is that studios make their research on what people want to see and for what they would pay but in the age of shared universe and team up movies there is no place for a single separate stories to tell
And Im telling you if done right Mad Love would have been A MAJOR hit

"Missed their opportunity" Not sure what that means The character has been around for like 80 years.. They can do a Joker movie any old time they want, and reboot him any number of times, as well.

Yeah, I can't see them making a Joker solo.

I don't think I could stand an entire movie of The Joker. Especially Leto's version.

That sorta thing is better just kept on a fan base level, where you have amateurs creating YouTube videos about that character for non profit purposes, other than the spam commercials people are forced to watch first.
Leto's version is just not iconic enough for silver screen release, which i am glad for that they revealed in this movie.
Its time to move on to other more down to ground simply just nasty villains, instead of just tacky ones.

Has you might have noticed, the Joker was released across the globe. Remember the clowns that appeared all over the world. The was the Joker reminding people that he released himself from the 2d world so he could come here to our 3d world and have some fun spreading chaos.
So for now on, the Joker can't participate in any more films because he decided to participate in a more interesting project - the real world.

After Leto's performance fell completely flat at best, I doubt we will see this Joker again in this current DCU.

                      Kyle:She's not alone.

In Suicide Squad, Joker's character was downplayed because the studio had to highlight the characters like Harley and Deadshot who were introduced to bigger audiences for the first time as the main characters of this first film and also as the steady characters of SS franchise.

In a Batman movie or eventually in Justice League , the joker wouldn't be downplayed because he would be essential to the story and he would be among characters as known to the extended public as him.

At least, I doubt we will see Jared Leto again. Though he may have to do more movies due to some contract.

                            You honestly think they'll recast?

I don't think he was in the movie enough to fairly give a negative opinion of the role. But he was really vocal about how much he was edited out of the final product and wouldn't be surprised if he quit.
                              I hope he doesn't.
