Marvel movies can't gross over 800 million without Robert Downey Jr.

You still dont make sense because The Avengers is a team of superheroes: Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Hawkeye, Quicksilver, Scarlett Witch, Black Widow, The Vision..
And then they fight each other in Civil War with Spider-Man included.
I guess Justice League will make over 800 million
only
because of Ben Affleck/Batman.. -

A few questions:
- What's the significance of $800M? Seems like an arbitrary benchmark. I never hear about movies shooting for $800M. It's a tremendous accomplishment for the studio, obviously, but I'm not sure what makes that number a significant milestone. Would it be because a more commonly used benchmark- like $500M or $750M- wouldn't work with your strawman argument?
- Why should I care about this topic at all? It's not important to me how much money these movies make, and I'm not sure why it's important to anyone but those directly involved in the making of the film. I get nothing from a film's box office receipts, so why should I care? Are you suggesting that I should take pride in something I have no involvement in that doesn't affect me at all?
- Why are you under the delusion that DC and Marvel are in competition with one another? They just want to make money. Their films are never in direct competition, and that's done intentionally so that both studios can make piles of money. If anything, they're working together to assure they both maximize their profits. Nothing one studio does is going to stop the other from making films. The only competition is between the studio and our wallets, and that's not much of a competition. The studios are winning handily.

RDJ is making so much money off this it's crazy. I bet Marvel was kicking themselves when his original contract expired, and they had to start paying him $50 million for each appearance lol.

I had never thought about that before but I think you're right.
DCUE needs Batman like MCU needs Iron Man, but WB's dependence has mainly been on having the character Batman, not so much the actor playing him.
But in MCU, the dependence on Iron Man relies specifically that Robert Downey Jr. is playing him.
Good point.
