Didn't Tony Stark had dance off at the beginning of Iron Man 3? Which is, if you know anything about the comics, completely out of character for him. Wasn't The Mandarin - you know, Iron Man's archenemy - wasted in Iron Man 3? (More like bastardized.) Yet, you thought that piece of sht was any good. (I just love the hypocrisy of MCU fanboys.) -

In all honesty, I have a ton of fun whenever I watch
Spider-Man 3
. It's the guiltiest of guilty pleasures for me. Whenever I watch the first two, I have to pop in the third immediately after.
Yes, I know it was a mess. Yes, I know it doesn't hold a candle to the previous two films. And yes, I know they screwed up Venom royally but I find it very fun, breezy and enjoyable in a big, goofy way. And I think that there are just enough elements that work (or at least entertain) to sort-of even out all the bad stuff and at least make it an amusing sit now and then.
For every groan-inducing "Emo Peter" sequence, there's a fun action set-piece like the subway battle or the delightfully over-the-top crane scene.
For every head-scratchingly stupid segment like the ludicrous dance, there's a genuinely funny scene like J. Jonah Jameson being tormented by the buzzer or Peter rehearsing to propose to M.J. (When he goes all school-boyish geek and says "How did that get in there?", I'll literally roll on the floor with laughter.)
For every ridiculous plot-development like Harry getting amnesia, there's an excellent scene like the absolutely stunning "Birth of Sandman."
Sue me it's a bad movie, but I get a huge kick out of
Spider-Man 3
, and I think there's just enough good scenes to not be able to wholly dismiss it.

I'm glad to see so many have an admiration for Spider-Man 3. I too like it very much. It's nowhere near on the level of Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2, but it's miles better than the two TASM wreaks.
Yes, there are some corny scenes in the movie, but there's also glimpses of Sam Raimi's real vision and brilliance, especially the way he makes Harry pin MJ and Peter against each other and have MJ lie to Peter and break up is just freaking heart wrenching great writing. Scenes like such are so refreshing compared to these overly action-packed Superhero movies we've since gotten. There are shines of brilliance in Spider-Man 3, but it all gets convoluted in Sony's messed up demands of packing the movie with villains and subplots to the breaking point.
Rumours actually has it, that Raimi cast Topher Grace as Venom to spite Sony and their constant interfering. He didn't want Venom and he should have been allowed to decide, cause he was the brilliant mind behind the movie.
That said, the movie looks good, the acting is as always on point and the movie is damn entertaining, but it's also easy to see that Raimi didn't enjoy directing the movie, there's not the same innovation and interesting shots and scenes as he's used to, like in Spider-Man 2 where he puts the song "Raindrops keep falling on my head" in the movie and it actually works! It works amazing. Who else could have done that? Who else would even had thought of doing that? Not to mention the horror scene in the hospital with Doc Ock.
Raimi is really the mastermind behind this great franchise. Unfortunately Sony got greedy, took the train to overdrive, had it run off rails and Spider-Man was not there to swoop in and save the day and stop it from unredeemable demolition.
Thanks Sony, you greedy bastards!
Drive is pure cinema. -

Andrew Garfield's a better Spiderman than Tobey McGuire's, more like the one in the comics or cartoons, more humorous and cocky to the bad guys, while McGuire is too moody or 'emo', as some would say. But the Garfield films are not nearly as exciting as the Sam Raimi ones I agree.

That's wrong. Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man is a depiction or inspiration of the Spider-Man from the old comics by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. Those where the ones Sam Raimi read as a child and which inspired him.
Drive is pure cinema. -

I liked it ok enough too, because I had grown attached to the characters enough, and not everything about them they fecked up. Plus Raimi just knows his cinematography, that already counts a lot to me. many of these marvel movies today look a little bland and forgettable, Raimi just knows how to create certain scenes that stick to you forever, images you can't forget. I don't mean the dancing scene necessarily lol. But even that one in all it's cringiness atleast sticks XD. I forgot EVERYTHING around the amazing spiderman 2, even though I didn't mind anything. So in ways I think it is just based on that a better movie, despite the mess of a story and awful scenes.
