it is. it show just how desperate Bruce is to leave his mark on Gotham
IMDB taught me: cynicism is praised. optimism must be stamped out wherever it can be found.

Are you suggesting that Bruce has statue-envy?
of course i'm damaged, it's tattooed on my forehead isn't it?

I think it's insulting that all of those years of crime fighting didn't really amount to anything for Bruce. Aside from earning the fear and distain of Gotham's citizens and losing at least one partner, what does he have to show for his effort?
Personally, I think that narrative is antithetical to the Batman mythos. I don't know how things will end for the Batman but, I'm almost certain it won't be in abject failure with him moving on to deal with intergalactic threats.
"You are salvage, the flotsam of the void, the property of the Midas Foundation. My property."

he won't fail.. he's Bat-God.. but he's still going to be that hero that is more comfortable in the shadows.

Funny, at first I was wondering why you were quoting Star Trek Beyond.

Almost the same exact line is said in the beginning by Kirk on his birthday (which is the day his dad died). It's actually one of the few emotional beats that resonated in the movie.

Yeah, "almost" but not quite exact.

Isn't that kind of the definition of "almost"?

Hands down the best line in the entire movie. I cannot think of any other one that even comes close to being this memorable - and that's not me being a dick.
In terms of power, emotion, and originality I would have built the entire film, and Batman's character, around this one line.
There's a handful of things I like from this movie and that's probably the top one, thanks for reminding me of it.

You know, the funny thing is, the higher-ups at Corporate America don't seem to care about what the story is gonna be like in a comic book superhero movie, I mean to paraphrase The Joker from The Dark Knight, "All they care about is money," but what they fail to understand is, if the movie is critically and commercially panned then it's because people think the story in your superhero movie is crap. And movies with crappy superhero stories tend to NOT sell well, don't they?
