Oliver looks like he's molesting his little sister when he's with Felicity. It's super awkward and they don't work at all in my opinion. If I had to pick he has the best romantic chemistry with Laurel, the 100th episode crossover I feel like is evidence of that. But I agree with people he's not a very good leading man in terms of chemistry with his female lead.

I ended up reading this board before I saw the 100th episode and so I was expecting to see great chemistry between Oliver and Laurel. I 'm not a fan of the pairing but I honestly legitimately expected to see it and was kind of disappointed when I didn't. I watched their scenes a couple of times hoping to catchsomething.
I binge watched Arrow seasons 1-3 in a vacuum. I'd barely heard of the show before and I didn't read anything about it before or during that initial viewing. And I loved the Felicity character, loved the scenes with her and Oliver and during seasons 2 and 3 was really rooting for them to get together. All this with definitely no outside influence and supposedly no romantic chemistry between the two actors and supposedly no indications in story of a possible love interest situation.
So. What would you like to do now? Oliver Queen, Arrow -

Well said dearcass
Those who were not influence by comics and message boards are the ones who enjoys the show and characters better. Like my friend who is a mother of 3 was able to binge watch all 3 seasons on netflix since her kids hold the tv hostage with cartoons. She enjoys the paring of O/F and like their rapport and also enjoys the team arrow dynamic.
Also keep on mind that when given the right material i.e a great story line many of the actors shine well together.
Oliver/ Thea all 5 seasons- S3 when he reveal he was the GA, 1/2 of S4 was amazing between them
Oliver/Diggle-same as above
Oliver/Laurel- S1-S3 their interaction were not enjoyable. My friend wanted to know why in gods and would Laurel take someone back who disrespected her by cheating and chose her sister 2x over her. S2 the hallway scene after the disaster family dinner, when he told he was done chasing- great scene between them. All their scene in S4 were enjoyable because they were given good material and the actors have a great rapport after 4yrs of coworkers.
Oliver/ Felicity- the network president loves her and her interaction with Stephen. S1/S2 good material = great scene between them. S3-The writers paint themselves in a corner with a crappy storyline and First half of S4 was good they had a mature relationship for like 7 episode then a nosedive, by then people were annoyed with the pairing, but the fandom put their hate on the female (Felicity) instead of both of them.since they both were given crappy matetials. Bull. I'm an avid fan of the comics, but when they brought on Sara in season 2, I made no hesitation to say, "screw it, let Sara being this iteration's take on the classic Black Canary." They did what I wouldn't have thought possible when they half-assed "Laurel", between changing her name and forgoing the necessary background to set her up become her costumed alter ego. They not only recast the role of Sara's sister, but they managed to find someone with the right look and screen presence to pull off the Black Canary; they also gave her the appropriate background, and nailed the perfect screen adaptation of her costume on the first try. And as I said previously, unlikely every other attempt at a romantic pairing between Oliver and anyone else, and in spite of any perceived expectations of who Oliver should end up with based on the comics; Stephen and Caity's dynamic on screen worked for me; well enough that I would not have cared if they completely ignored "Dinah Laurel Lance". Even Sara's romantic history with Nyssa didn't affect that; the show still maintained a love triangle between the three characters, and it remained a no different than if Sara was choosing between Oliver and another man, which is a solid way to go if you're going to make a character bisexual, or incorporate some form of sexual fluidity with her. She may legitimately be attracted to women, but her involvement with Oliver was never a cover or diminished in any way because of that. They didn't even specify or try to classify it; whereas now it's practically become a punch line, and Sara on Legends has become a caricature of herself.
After season 2, I did not event want Laurel to become any kind of superhero, because I had very little faith in that measuring to what they managed to do with Sara in season 2; and I was right. They completely screwed the pooch; killing Sara off like a punk, and Laurel as the official Black Canary in that ridiculous costume was an utter joke.
He lied to us through song! I hate when people do that." -

Stargazer the general public who watches the show dont know or care that GA/BC are iconic couple. They did not care for them in prev seasons and enjoyed O/F relationship . Its the writers who ruin both relationship pairing. O/F and O/L
im glad as a comic book fan you were able to enjoy the show and not allowed obvious bias to ruin the enjoyment of the show. Cant say the same for other comic book fan who wont let it go when it comes to how certain characters and pairing are not quite the same as the comics.
The live action show is their own version of the GA mythology. What works in the comics probably wont work in live actions. You said it best Caity Lotz have the screen presence and natural athletic to pull of the black Canary role. Cassidy is good actor but lack the intimidation that caity brought on screen. Same for justin Hartley who played GA in smallville. He was able to pull off the charmer, easy going, playboy Oliver, but Amell own the Green Arrow "i will put the fear of god" intimidation.
Based on many threads about how from Wed epi cassidy and Amell had spicy chemistry etc like, they had a great scene plus many good ones from S4 but that does not mean it should be romantic. The writers fail on so many aspect of the show including the romance between the 2 leads and it
seems
to come from die hard comic book fans who keep on harboring on how awesome laurel is and death to her "replacement" Felicity. -

To be honest is see NO chemistry whatsoever in Lauriver or Olicity. Two forced ships where the actors have zero chemistry, and the women are written to act like condescending b!tches to Oliver. I hate the romance on this show always have. My dream is for Oliver to end up alone he needs no love but the love of his friends and family aka Thea. Then all this b!tching about who he has better chemistry with can stop.
