I personally thought it was good, not great but it was freaking funny.

Eh, not entirely true.
I personally like Suicide Squad less and less the more I watch it.
But, many avid comic book fans of Harley Quinn really liked this film. If you go on Twitter, which I know isn't the best place to form an aggregate of opinions, but there is a surprising amount of comic book fans who liked Suicide Squad and hated BvS or vice versaor both. -

As a fan of film SS is just absolutely awful I did not like BvS but it was a major improvement over SS, I fail to see how anyone would like that film it is almost has no good qualities to it at all.
To make a great film you need three things - the script, the script and the script -Alfred Hitchcock -

The movie's a mess, but not an unenjoyable one. Of the DCEU films so far it definitely fits the bill of being more of a "popcorn movie", I looked at it as if I were reading the first issue or two in a new comic series in a reboot - Lots of set up but an amusing distraction.

I agree 100%
Sure, it's not going to win any Oscar but it was a great escapism movie. I was one of the people that despised the concept from the inception, especially the "L.A. Gangster" style of the characters, and I felt like eating a lot of crow, simply because it was fun that's it, it wasn't magical or unforgettable, it was just "fun."
