How long before Iris becomes a vigilante?

In Iris' case and according to Barry, she's basically the reason for him being who he is. So she may feel useless but in her boo's eyes, she is his raison 'd'tre which makes her mega useful to the whole operation.
Plus she doesn't need to become a vigilante, that angle is overdone. When you really think about it, people who suddenly develop powers are the ones who are truly useless since there is no other story for them. Iris is a journalist, that alone renders her most usefulnow if only the showrunners/writers could get that right. -

That's an amazing leap of "logic", right up there with "because I said so". But Patton did say Iris is his "security blanket". If team flash/Iris/Patton/shippers have their way, Barry would be nothing but an empty suit. Oh wait -

I had a dream, which may have been the result of seeing this thread and it seeping into my subconscious, where Iris developed the power to slow time. So in some sense it was similar to Barry's powers, because she could hypothetically move between various points in an apparent blink of an eye to everyone else, while at the same time it was almost the exact opposite, because she herself wasn't moving fast; so she couldn't run up a building or across water. It also required a great deal of concentration for her to control that power, so any other semi-conscious act, like walking, or anything that took the presence of thought to do, that might take away her focus from exerting her powers, made it difficult to sustain that power; and she could lose her lock on a particular timeframe she had frozen or slowed down.
The whole thing kind of bordered on lucid dreaming, because it definitely felt like I was consciously guiding the whole thing, without really conceptualizing that it was a dream; working up from the idea that she would develop powers, and considering if she would end up with speed, like in the comics, or if it should be something else. Then deciding it would sort of being the inversion of Barry's powers, where she can make things slower; and there was something about it that kind of seemed interesting. Even now, it kind of makes me wonder what they could do with that. There was the idea that she could use it to slow time and preserve moments she wanted to cherish; and I would wonder how Barry's speed would interact with a slowed time frame. We saw a little of that with the Turtle, but I sort of picture it where Barry and Iris, each at full power, kind of end up in vastly different streams of perceptive reality; where they're at different ends of the perception spectrum. He appears to her to be moving even faster than normal, while Iris appears to be in some other indescribable, inaccessible state that defies Barry's comprehension when running at full speed.

That would depend if they learned anything from The Felicity Show aka Arrow S3 & 4. If they go that route, it will take the Most Shoehorned Character in the DCCWverse crown from Felicity, which might actually make her popular outside of her fandom again/Arrow better/Flash even worseI'm for Felicity keeping her crown.

Since there would be no Flash without her I would hardly call her useless and btw that quote came straight from the horses mouth.
Also Iris is not some viglante desperate to help others I beleve she clearly stated who she was interested in helping.
She has a purpose and she knows who she wants to help which which pretty much renders your conclusion moot
