Her acting is fine, having watched a large portion of her filmography the thing that is letting her down most is the writing on Legends of Tomorrow. Its a common problem, whilst i wouldn't say Hayden Christensen is an amazing actor, he certainly would have been better represented had the script of the Star Wars prequels been better.
My boy's wicked smart. -

I've got a lot of respect for folks who start off as mediocre actors but really learn and develop. Kit Harrington on Game of Thrones was pretty rough in the early seasons, but really upped his game as the show went along. Amell too, I actually feel bad that he's got such poor scripts these days yet his acting is so much better than when he was getting good ones!
I don't think Caity is bad, though, she's perhaps not on par with say Victor Garber, but she doesn't have a lot of depth to work with for her character really. I certainly prefer her to EBR and Katie on Arrow, no slight intended to them.
As for being an action hero, I would love to see her develop her career in that way. She's capable of the stunts and like someone like Palicki actually looks capable of beating guys in fights rather than some tiny skinny teenage girl!
Also, let's face it, most male action stars are average actors at best, Vin or Statham or older ones like Van Damme aren't winning any awards and Caity could act rings around those people! -

yes, she should be on big screen, she will do great in action adventure movie.
There is nothing wrong with her acting, they are just not giving her enough material to show more potential. Stephen plays the main lead that is why he has more opportunities to play more deep scenes.
If they try to develop the character more and give her depth will be nice.
All the actors in Arrowverse look the same level of acting based on the light comedy genre these shows are. -

An even more expanded role, would expose her that much more I think she's been used very well so far and they actually play to her strengths, which is mostly what you've identified with the opening post. Nothing wrong with that, I still think White Canary is a good character.
I think Stephen Amell has just become good enough(he benefits from being masked and sometimes having his voice scrambled), but still better than Caity Lotz. -

I'm not comparing her to Meryl Streep I'm comparing her to her co-stars.
I do think she's improved, and she is better than even last year, so maybe I won't think of her as bad next year. Despite what I think of her acting, I still like her for the role, and I really like the character. -

She is a lot better now than she was in the past. Now that she has been promoted to the main character/leader, she is clearly trying more with her acting and delivery. And let's be real she is good enough for what is basically a really cheesy sci-fi fantasy superhero show. Nobody is expecting Emmy Award caliber acting from a show like this.

with the lines she has and how her character is, there really isnt much better acting for her to do. The character doesnt have much depth nor shows enough feelings apart from the usual "i was an assassin so i can kick anyone's ass, oh i like to have lots of sex".
They need to give her more to work with so that she can do better acting.
