Perhaps what we saw was just a projection of an old Kryptonian tale, like when Jor El shows Kal the story of Kryton and its all cartoony, and this tale projects him a more demonic figure?
Perhaps we have been misled..

Julian Lewis Jones was cast in an unknown role..has the look to pull it off but relatively unknown.. DC does not risk playing unknown for major antagonist roles
If they cast, i hope they get
Jason Clarke
for the role..or if they go younger, Luke Evans..

Yes he's the antagonist, but some months ago they couldn't tell who they were eying to play him because there wasn't a deal finished yet. I figure they've nabbed the actor but they're keeping the information close to the vest. I hope they announce it soon, perhaps when they're done with filming.
We saw Steppenwolf at the end of BvS, and if that's really the final design, then we're in for a very intimidating looking villain! We've yet to see him in color and speak of course but still. Really digging the design.
I just hope we get biblical amounts of Parademons in the film, that would be so awesome. I just can't wait to see the League ripping through them and them using all their powers and then seeing it all in slo-mo from Flash' POV

Same I really dig the design we saw in BvS. I'm also looking forward to seeing Batmans new toys for going against the forces of Apokalips. Also seeing how Cyborg origin and the mother boxes fit to the story.

In the questionable leaked plot, Steppenwolf is the General of Darkseid, and his brother. In reality, he is his Uncle I suppose.
