I have mixed feelings.
On the one hand, as you say, they will be helpful to each other, Chloe becoming less uptight, and Luci more mature.
On the other hand, they have different goals as of now: Luci wants to have fun and fool around, and Chloe already grew out of such lifestyle. I don't see how they can build durable relationships, they are complete opposites in that regard.
And I also have a concern that if Luci becomes more serious he will lose the bulk of his charm and appeal.
But I want them to be together anyway lol. I firmly believe that the show's writers are up to the task of hooking up those two.

Yeah, I don't think the persona Lucifer adopts is really who he is. It's a mask most of the time. I think as he becomes more whole, and lets down his barriers, he will keep all of his best traits, definitely his willful qualities. He'll always be a rebel because it's who he fundamentally is. But I can't imagine his humor and "Luciferness" would disappear just because he learns how to love someone.
Also, Lucifer's ancient, a little change once in a while would be good for him.

Fingers crossed, his Luciferness won't disappear but the question is whether Chloe will be comfortable with it. So far she's often appalled by his behaviour and has to call him to order all the time. I wonder how it will work out in the relationship.

I just think he will become more playful with her, maybe a little naughty but not doing things that are outright illegal. When you love someone, you want to respect what's important to them. I'm sure he can continue to be himself, get his kicks teasing her, without making her compromise her values. Well, most of the time.

The other thing we have to remember is that his fundamental instincts are right. And good. He just doesn't know how to execute. Like with Trixie, who he purportedly dislikes, when she was having a hard time and acting out, he wanted to help by giving her the doll she wanted. It wasn't just for Chloe either, or reacting to his own mother's abandonment, he wanted the child to feel better so bought her the exact doll she wanted, and even included a chocolate cake accessory. His intentions were good, but he didn't understand that just giving a child whatever she wants isn't necessarily what she really needs. Even so, his heart was in the right place. As it often is, even if he denies it or is practically unaware of it. Deep down, he has a basic level of decency and an ethical code that matches Chloe's.

I think he does, being a punisher is quite a noble thing too, but it's a lesser component of his appeal. It amuses me when he's being outrageously insolent, like when he wanted to touch the charred crotch or was gloating over disturbing videos, but maybe Chloe doesn't find it appealing, maybe she doesn't want to be a 24/7 mom to an overgrown baby, she has an actual child to raise.
When you love someone, you want to respect what's important to them. I'm sure he can continue to be himself, get his kicks teasing her, without making her compromise her values.
Oh, so well said. Amen to that. I think they both will have to make concessions.

Oh and one last thing! lol.
Chloe has a bit of a rebel streak in her too. If she didn't she wouldn't have gotten herself ostracised from her entire department. She wouldn't have kept investigating numerous cases against Dan's "advice". She wouldn't have punched out that paparazzo at her father's funeral. And she most definitely wouldn't keep looking the other way at Lucifer's antics, over and over and again. She's not really interested in human vices, like drugs and speeding and breaking basic rules, she's interested in protecting people from violence and bringing justice to murderers and their victims.
That's why she's not really judgmental about Lucifer's lifestyle, the drinking or the drugs. As long as no one's hurt, she's okay with it. So she is a bit of a rebel too, considering she's supposed to represent law and order.

Oh and believe me. I'm with you. How on earth she can resist that gorgeous, hilarious, multi-talented man who's completely available for the taking any time she wants? Mind boggling. lol.

All of the single moms I know, really don't date (unless their children are already grown up, and it's still hard to do this, let alone find a GOOD and single man somewhere). Focusing on their children and their futures certainly
should
be priority because there is no guarantee some guy won't come in and cause distress in your home life (I've heard too many stories, some of them can be emotionally time-consuming after first glance is said and done). Honestly while we figure she'll pair off with him down the road, Lucifer has some severe issues, to say the least..
He sleeps with multiple partners, does drugs, drinks, and it's fairly dangerous to be in his world. There is a disadvantage to not knowing when someone from God's lineage is out to kill you, whereas a suspect, you suspect already. Anyway, Lucifer is pretty damaged and seriously emotionally handicapped. Someone turns to sex and drugs when they're seriously avoiding human relationships/attachments. Chloe's got to get up in the mornings, get Trixie working on getting ready for school, get breakfast on the table, make sure her kid has her backpack ready (which they always manage to leave unpacked by the time the bus gets around), get her own coffee, get dressed, attend to homicides, interview leads & suspects, come home, get dinner on the table, check the homework, get Trixie in the bath, get ready for the next day, etc etc
I think the show is sending the right message, Chloe doesn't want to acknowledge a 'bad boy.' Caring for them doesn't necessarily mean it should evolve into a romantic relationship. Chloe's the type to want someone serious anyhow, not a 'booty-call,' which Lucifer seriously is I imagine he'd cause her some pain somehow, he just can't help it. It's his mother's calling card, is what I'm getting. They're fueled by hurt emotions, with no mechanisms to resolve conflict without just destroying others around them. I mean, Amenadiel lost his wingsUriel's gone.. ugh. As a sibling of that family, I wonder if someone's REALLY upset about that one in the form of "I hate you, mother, Lucifer, and how you think the whole universe bows to you." I would be kind of ticked -

Thanks for this perspective! Indeed, dating Lucifer might be not only exasperating but also outright dangerous. And he'll hardly be able to make parenting any easier for Chloe.
I think the show is sending the right message, Chloe doesn't want to acknowledge a 'bad boy.'
So true.
On the other hand, Lucifer has also a lot to deal with and sort out with his family, become self-aware and learn to face his emotions. Dating Chloe and taking care of Trixie might be too much pressure for him. And does Devil actually want to date a mortal human?
So many questions. I wonder what the writers' endgame is. Teaming up two extremely handsome protagonists and tossing obstacles that prevent them from becoming a couple. I guess I'll be happy with any result, just want to know how it's going to work out for Luci and Chloe.

I see it as Chloe is a really smart well-adjusted woman who knows that she has to get divorced, get settled into new living arrangements, and help Trixie go through the transition before she can even contemplate having a relationship with Lucifer, which is bound to bring in all sorts of chaos into her already stressful life. Plus, as much as Lucifer would like to have sex with Chloe, I would imagine that he would not want to be the rebound.

I agree. I don't see Chloe getting together with Lucifer until he gets his act together a bit, matures past the teenager mentality. Of course, he already has in a lot of ways, but not all. The thing Lucifer's really got going for him as an actual relationship candidate is that Trixie loves him, and despite his assertions to the contrary, he cares about Trixie, too. And that's huge for a single mom, and Chloe
knows
Lucifer deep down, how loyal he is, etc. So once all of the obstacles are removed, and there are many, I think they'd actually be really happy together. Like I've said before, Chloe has turned out to be his only real equal. She's unlike anyone he's ever met. And for Chloe, Lucifer has shown how devoted to her he is so many times, even more than she knows. And they really balance each other; they have a lot to offer one another.

In the Lovecraft mythos seeing a demonic being in their true form causes extreme sanity loss. I realize that they are using a different mythos here with different rules but Linda's reaction was just what I would expect. Pure terror and sanity loss at seeing something not meant for human eyes or comprehension.

He truly wants to be understood and known, and accepted and if Chloe and Linda can't do it, then no one ever will. Or so he thinks.
Maybe Trixie? I mean, she thought Maze's face was cool. She is only 8, so I can imagine what she would think of Lucifer. -
barbarawstuller — 9 years ago(November 02, 2016 03:26 PM)
For some odd reason, I have assumed from Trixie and Lucifer's very first meeting, when he told her his name and she said, "like the devil?" that she just accepted that he was indeed the devil. As an innocent child it was simply no big deal. He was her friend and that was that. Just like Maze.
So if Chloe ever does find out and tells Trixie, I expect Trixie's response to be something like, "yeah, so, what took you so long, Mom?" -
morrigan-13140 — 9 years ago(November 02, 2016 04:54 PM)
Those were my thoughts too. Lucifer's answer was "Precisely!" so why would Trixie question him further? She simply told him her name. He went on to champion her cause with with the other girl and Trixie knew it, cementing their relationship or at least her fondness for him.
I love the way Trixie now just accepts his presence in her life as something normal and expected. -

I wonder if it isn't Trixie's unquestioning trust and love for him that starts his swing back from the guilt trip and destructive behaviour. Maybe it is Trixie's acceptance that balances Linda's rejection.

Aww, that would be great. I hope so. Seems like Lucifer's going to be helping Chloe with a really personal case this coming week in "My Little Monkey", involving her dad and maybe that will be the opening for him to be more involved with her family.
