I am still keeping my fingers crossed that the introduction of a
New
director isn't just a way to increase the hero-arc of Coulson. I don't want the guy to be the default BAD plant that Coulson has to take down from the inside.
I don't want the new director to be an InHuman or a Skrull or an LMD or a HYDRA sleeper leader, or a worshipper of the Secret Society, or the Council of Seven, or an AIM agent, or a Kree, or a DNA re-engineered Chitauri Clone , or Coulson's son that he didn't know he had, or Daisy Johnson's brother that she didn't know that she had, or Garrett's nephew, or Ward's cousin, or anyone with an agenda based on a previous relationship.
I want the new director to be a normal person trying to protect the world from the much weirder world.
And PLEASE don't have the guy acting like he is smitten with all the eye-candy that is the Agents of SHIELD. He doesn't need to make the moves on May, or Simmons or Yo-Yo or Mack or even Fitz. Can we JUST have a real person trying to do real things in an unreal and increasingly weird world?
Makes sense? It does to me.

He's not. He's a villain who's there to take the job away from Coulson and then conveniently die so they can give it to Daisy without making everyone resent her for taking Coulson's job. -

How plausible would it be to have Daisy become Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. while the Sokovia Accords are in effect?
The show isn't going to be able to get away with abolishing or even scaling back the Accords, the movies will dictate what happens as far as they are concerned. It seems very unlikely that an Inhuman would be allowed to become Director in the current climate. I'll be surprised if Daisy is allowed to continue to lead the Secret Warriors if/when she returns to S.H.I.E.L.D.; my guess would be that, if Inhumans are allowed to continue to work with S.H.I.E.L.D., it will either with a non-Inhuman partner/team or, if they are allowed to work as a team, with a non-Inhuman commander.
On top of the Accords, public opinion on Inhumans seems to be mixed, at best. I don't think that S.H.I.E.L.D. is in a position to afford the controversy of an Inhuman Director, not yet. Daisy becoming Director seems like something that will happen in the series finale, if the show lasts long enough for the movies to bring about a climate where this would be possible.
Perhaps the new Director is a way of having a partial reset for the series, putting Coulson back in the field, working within the system, getting to grips with not being in charge, etc.
