Miller wanted to go more stylized. Use some of that mo' money they were giving him to make a bigger movie. I was saying that was going to happen since Deadpool came out. So I'm wondering if with a new director Fox will step in and make it pg13. Especially if Logan doesn't do well. You people wanting all the X-men movies to be R better hope Logan does at least as well as Deadpool did.

No way Logan does as well as Deadpool financially. I think Logan looks good, but films that make Deadpool kinda money don't look as bleak and humorless as Logan does. For the casual moviegoer, I'm guessing Logan doesn't look like a fun time at the cinema.

Even if it were advertised as his last film as Wolverine, I don't think audiences would come out in droves to see it. At most I'd say it'd make 500 million worldwide, which isn't bad for a solo Wolverine flick.

R ratings don't draw people in. Ask The Nice Guys. The 1st 2 Wolverine movies weren't the best movies. Logan could be one of those things where the 1st one (for this director) got buzz after it left theaters (cable and home vid) so people would see the next one. But an R rating isn't going to get people to see it if they don't like what they see in the trailers.

This is why it is essential for a director to have a vision to fall back before they go into production. That's why the great filmmakers - like Cameron or Kubrick or Hitchcock or Scorsese, all have the entire film illustrated in storyboards before they even start casting. Hell, I'm storyboarding before I even start writing.

If you can trust what is being reported as the reason there is a rift:
-Dispute over whether Kyle Chandler should play Cable.
-Make the film more "stylized" - whatever that means.
-Desire to keep the movie to have the same level and type of humor.
I gotta agree with the side that wants a more fitting actor for Cable, and a consistent tone to the sequel as the original. That puts me on Team Reynolds on those issues. As for the "stylized" thing I mean, WTF does that even mean? More stuff like the triple head-shot? F yeah! I donno, poor way for Miller to convey that he just wants to do more cool stuff.
Anyway, Miller isn't why Deadpool was what it was. Reynolds is why. There's other directors who could do this Hopefully Reynolds doesn't lose control of the project with all his new power over the franchise.
