about Quake's power

I've been wondering the same thing. Despite what other posters have said, the gloves were removed when she first arrived at Afterlife, in mid-season 2. Lincoln even commented to her that they were responsible for taking so long to heal her, when he was giving her the acupuncture treatment the first time they met. Since then, she has not used them. This particular item is just a mistake, in my opinion, unless I missed something entirely. She had stopped hurting herself once JaiYing
trained her to use her power.

Just a couple of examples.. When she stopped Rosalind Price from falling to death, and also the big fight scene with Mack, when the Kree returned. She showed no signs of pain or injury from using her power. Ditto for every time she used them in that time period I mentioned above.

yeah this needs to be explained. I really haven't been able to work it out.
Perhaps it's a mental thing, she is not focusing her power correctly therefore is doing internal damage? Could be because of her current state of mind? -

When she saved Rosalind, she has her gauntlets on. When she fought Mac, she was infected/drugged up with Hive, (so using this period for evidence seems iffy to me).
But when she was opening the portal to the other planet, it did seem to cause her pain (her nose was bleeding).
Video of her using her powers through out season 3. She wears her gauntlets on and off. -

The gloves were initially used to restrict her abilities, to hamper them.
This is where we get these comments from Lincoln, and later they are used to keep her under control by the Inhumans at Afterlife after she finds out what Jiaying us doing.
The gloves were later restructured to help focus her abilities and shape and funnel the quake abilities or through her hands.
She can use her abilities without the gloves and if she doesn't use them too much, it's fine. But over time, fractures start to happen and just keep getting worse with repeated use, which Daisy had been doing fighting the Watchdogs. -

It doesn't make much sense and I don't get it. That's why I need Jemma to figure this one out. Maybe Hive was amplifying me and stopped the pain? I did wear some bracers for a little bit in Season 3. In the episode "Spacetime" for sure
That was a gooder!

True, but you've been a one woman army since you left Shield. You're using your abilities way much more than what saw in season two and three in your attack on the Watchdogs, and not giving yourself any downtime to heal. Plus, you've never looked completely healed since Hive took you over, even after he was removed.
Take a break, woman. -

In the comics Daisy is immune to damage from her ability. The gauntlets were created to help her focus her power more effectively.
Unfortunately, tv writers keep going back to the he/she can't use their powers without being damaged trope. You'd think they'd have learned from Krings inept handling of Hiro after a brilliant first season. -

OK this version of Quake can hurt herself. Take that as a given even if you don't like it. What they have shown us so far is that she is over-using her powers. Why ? Well for one thing she isn't packing. No gun. Go back and look at that fight scene in 2x19 and you will see did more with the gun than her power. Second the over-use of her power makes physical combat often (not always obviously) damn near impossible due to the damage to her hands which compounds the problem.
As for the frequency of power use she is driving herself beyond reason out of depression (death of boyfriend), shame (asking squid-ward to take her back) and the need to stop the hunting of her people, result in the damage we have seen. -

I don't understand why everyone is getting this wrong. Here are the facts:
Daisy wore the gauntlets in 2x15, to INHIBIT her powers.
Lincoln removed them in 2x16 as part of the healing process.
She used her powers without damage, and without any gauntlets, ever again.
The only time she seemed affected in any way was at the portal, and I am pretty certain that was due to the gigantic resonant response of the room. That is, after all, what it was designed for. Even then, it drained her, it didn't break her bones.
Afterlife locked them on her in 2x22 to inhibit her from using her power, she explicitly tells that to Mac. Then Lincoln removes the shackles and gauntlets, and she immediately goes and knocks the jet off of the carrier.
She then used her powers without incident until the fight scene with Lash at the end of season 3. Just before he sucked the parasites out of her, she 'quaked' him and it seemed to drain her and hurt her arms.
The gloves were NEVER re-engineered to enhance and funnel her powers, to the best of my knowledge. If so, I would like to know which episode deals with that. She has several long sleeved black outfits, and a couple of different pairs of black gloves, but NONE of these were the gauntlets. They are of a quite specific design, with rows of nubbins on them, and they are fingerless and don't quite reach her elbows. RE: 2x15 for a good look, and again in 2x22. That is the only times they are shown. Well, briefly in 2x14 when Coulson gives them to her, but she first puts them on in the next episode.

Yes I believe that she's doing it to herself subconsciously as punishment/atonement/penance for her actions when she was controlled by Hive. She blames herself for the deaths of Andrew, Lincoln, and others. That's also why she left the team she doesn't feel like she deserves their friendship and/or that she'll only cause them pain.
It's also possible that she's just using her powers more recklessly. Purposefully going past the threshold that she can safely control and that is causing the injuries. So for example if on a 10 point scale she can safely control her powers at a 6-7 level now she's going 8-9 constantly and that's causing injuries. Same as if you were lifting heavier weights than what you could handle and not resting enough in between you'd injure yourself. -

If she was going 8-9 constantly, half the city would be rubble. Now her powers are taxed by a falling shelf. Can't wait until they make Ghost Rider fizzle out and smoulder due to a crisis of faith, or something equally ridiculous.
Then they could have Tony Stark's arc reactor fail, and force him to use wind power to charge his batteries so he can fly to the end of his driveway and pick up his mail once a week.
