I imagine the power ring is just too versatile for a realistic setting.
"Need" is just a fiction. As is "should", "must", "value" and "importance".

. . .What in the world is "realistic" about

      • an alien who gets an implausible powerset because our sun is "yellow"
      • a guy who breaks the laws of physics because of a "speed force"
      • a literal Amazon who gets her powers from the Greek Gods
      • a cyborg built from an advanced technology alien box that might as well be magic
      • a billionaire nobody figures out is Batman???????
        Waiting patiently. . .

So, because they introduce these things, then they might as well just allow anything to exist or occur?
Should Batman have a Luck Dragon hidden in the Batcave?
Should Diana be pen pals with Sailor Moon?
Should Cyborg have a backstory with Adam Sandler in Pixels?
Should Superman blow out a sun like a birthday candle (actually happened in a comic)
        AND WHERE IS BATMITE?!!
No, there's a line. Where the line exists may be a good thing to debate, but there's gotta be a line SOMEWHERE.

Way to miss the point Completely.
If you think a "power ring" crosses the "line" more than ANYTHING I mentioned, you need to re-examine your critical thinking abilities.
          Endof.

No, I think I get your point the things you listed are already established in this series of movies and they are fantastical enough that adding a power ring is well within the realm of possibility.
I was primarily being snarky and silly with my post (and was actually chuckling with the thought of a Luck Dragon in the Batcave).
But to declare outright that a power ring is less fantastical than your entire list is pretty silly as it is just your opinion of those things. My 'critical thinking abilities' are just fine, thanks. The crux of my post was that there is a line and some things are closer to it than others - and some things may even be over that line. The concept of where that line exists and the relative 'position' of things you mentioned to it are a matter of opinion more often than not. True, I was being snarky, but my last line sums this up quite well I think. If anything I was brokering a discussion about these things, not trying to make a declaration of their status.
But no, I disagree about your take on it. I wouldn't put the power ring further out than Greek gods or the Speed Force. I may put it in the same neighborhood as Superman's abilities. I would say it IS more 'unrealistic' than Batman's existence or the abilities of technology from civilizations that could be hundreds, if not thousands, if not tens of thousands of years more advanced than our own.
But I'm not going to declare that my opinion or analysis of these things is right. I'll leave those kinds of statements to others who want to dictate their take as fact.
            End Transmission: Code 350

Hey you guys knock it off with these sensible nuanced arguments. This is an IMDB board! Someone input some stupidity!

                Apologies. You're right.
I still think Batman riding a Luck Dragon is a funny idea.

                  LOL
                  Agreed.
FWIW: yes, much of this is a matter of opinion, but I've found that the strongest opinions are often the least informed.
The reason some people believe certain things are (im)plausible is because they simply don't have sufficient background to understand the concepts involved. Sometimes they're basic, sometimes esoteric, sometimes subtle.
Case in point: a power ring vs. ANY way Superman could exist. If you don't know much about physics/biology, you probably don't realize that yes: it's a ridiculous concept. At LEAST as implausible as a "power ring."
Some things are opinion. Some are not. To accept either of these characters requires an absurd twisting/reshaping of some pretty fundamental scientific concepts.
Add in literal Greek Gods, and the putative bar has been set sufficiently high that a Green Lantern Corps is not at all past any imaginary "line."
                  All I was really saying.

Because the 2011 Green Lantern did so poorly, they don't want any association or references to that.
What's missing in movies is same as in society: a good sense of work ethic and living up to ideals.
