Didn't his brother and other rogue soldiers were in cahoots to in the same suspicious activities they presented in the latest episode?
Its probably gonna connect with the Bratva thing later in the season. But thats the same mistake they did last season with the flashbacks. They were irrelevant and unconnected until the latter part of the season.

Anytime there is a military story, there's going to be a commanding officer who goes into business for himself, and cronies who follow him. It's one of the most beaten tropes there is.

Its also been done recently on the show, so not enough for me to be interested. Too familiar with it, without anything new or interesting in it to sink our teeth in.

Yeah, they're going to have to pull something big like bringing Deadshot back to make this interesting.

Yeah, they're going to have to pull something big like bringing Deadshot back to make this interesting.
I don't know if this is legit, but according to this spoiler,
              Deadshot will be back!
              :
Episode begins with some information on Carl Roberto, a frequent visitor of Iron Heights. In this episode we are introduced to a new drug called "Stardust" which "Makes PCP look like children's aspirin".
The team is looking for the supplier of "Stardust" and a gangbanger tells them that the one who is dealing the drug is a man named Derek Sampson. Basically the goon says that he picks up the drugs at a different spot every night and never directly interacts with Sampson.
Oliver goes on about how information is king and "the currency of their business". Anyhow, they're aiming to get the drugs analysed to identify where it is manufactured. Similarly, Oliver wants the team to analyse the surveillance tapes to study "like a football player would break down a game tape".
Diggle is in some major problems from his time in Chechneya, he was charged with espionage and murder. In the operation he was retrieving a trigger from one of Damien Darhk's nukes however his C.O wanted to sell it to the highest bidder and things went south when the buyer didn't show. Diggle is imprisoned in the same cell as Floyd Lawton .
Meanwhile Oliver is having problems with reporter Susan Willams who is questioning the choice of Quentin Lance for Deputy Mayor given his recent relapse.
Moving on, Oliver and Anatoly share a moment reminiscing about the pains of the past and Oliver offers Anatoly water, which he initially thinks is vodka. Oliver still wishes to kill Kovar but Anatoly stresses that Bratva is the only way to which Oliver says he doesn't trust them after they killed 3 innocent men which apparently was just miscommunication.
Meanwhile Rene and Evelyn go after the dealer because they never got a chance to go out on the field so they figure, easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission, and in a colossal beep up, end up killing Derek Sampson and throwing him into a vat of stardust and chemicals much to the dismay of Oliver later on when he finds and is furious. Similarly, the District Attorney against Derek was pissed off at the fact that Derek ended up dead just as his case was about to flip him.
The scene shifts to Thea who tries to get Susan Willams to change her report by telling her Lance hasn't been appointed yet and Oliver doesn't know that she was the one that offered him the job.
Moving back to Diggle and Deadshot, the former questions how Deadshot survived which went like this
How the hell are you alive?
Great question, but you know the answer.
              They never found your body.
A hell of a world we live in, ain't it?
I survive a freaking building exploding under me, only to get pinched a couple months later, and it is hard going on the lam with an eye patch.
Meanwhile Curtis and Rory are heading home from the hideout and Curtis asks if he is from Star City to which he replies Havenrock which has piqued Felicity's interest or shameI guess. Curtis ends up staying back to discuss this tidbit with Felicity who blames herself for Havenrock.
              You knew, didn't you?
              About Havenrock?
              He told Oliver. I overheard.
              Does he know?
              Rory, I mean.
Know that i destroyed his hometown with a nuclear missile 5 months ago?
              No, it hasn't come up.
You didn't destroy anything, Felicity. That was Damien Darhk.
Darhk sent the missile to Monument Point.
I sent the missile to Havenrock.
I killed tens of thousands of people.
              To save millions.
              Tell that to Rory's family.
Elsewhere trouble is brewing in Starling General where the man that Rene killed - Derek Sampson - has re-emerged as a zombie
According the coroner's toxicology workup, Sampson's body was infused with a mixture of chemicals that must have put his body into a state that fooled the paramedics. Supposedly Sampson's physiology changed and he has enhanced strength, with no ability to feel pain. The team is continuing to look for Sampson.
Back at the prison Deadshot is playing cards and Diggle is getting annoyed at Lawton's noise which leads to this exchange.
You shut up 5 for minutes, I won't have to kill you.
              Whoo! There's that temper.
Good thing your kid won't have to grow up with it like your brother did, huh?
              What'd you say to me?
              How's all that going, anyway?
You ever find that group that paid me to off him?
              They didn't.
              What's that, now?
They didn't want him dead. He was alive.
Like i said, hell of a world, ain't it?
I meanwait, why did you say "was alive" just now? huh?
              Hello, John? anybody home?
              Because I killed him.
So all that hate that you poured into me for killing your brother, you really should have been pouring it into yourself.
Whilst the SCPD is locating Sampson it seems trouble is brewing for Oliver as the discussion between Susan and Thea leads to a damning report on how Oliver isn't governing properly and his sister is calling the shots with the selection of Lance as Deputy Ma

I confess that I saw that and wanted to look like a wizard. I've been found out.

I agree I don't really like his storyline right now.
