The OP had me laughing the minute they claimed that Livewire was ripped from Smallville. The character actually dates as far back as 1996's Superman animated series, as she was originally created for that before being introduced into the regular DC Comics Universe a decade later.
Much like in the Supergirl TV series, the DC Animated Universe's version of Leslie Willis - voiced by Lori Petty in STAS and Maria Bererra in Justice League Unlimited - was a shock jock who took particular joy in giving derogatory rants about Superman (as such, Lex Luthor enjoyed listening to her). That's about where the similarities end, however.
She hosted a rock concert in celebration of her radio show's third anniversary, and insisted the show would go on, ignoring her producer's warning about the weather conditions.
Shortly after Superman and the authorities show up to break up the concert, Leslie turns her supporters on them and revels in her moment of glory as lightning starts to strike the stage. Superman moves Leslie to safety as a bolt travels through the rafters towards her, but as she is fleeing the scene, the lightning passes through Superman and hits her. The resultant shock knocks her unconscious and leads her to discover her new appearance and powers once she wakes up.
Here's a link to the full episode, for those interested.

Ugh, I absolutely LOVED Lori Petty as Livewire. She was awesome on Orange is the New Black.

Funny that is exactly what they said about Smallville.
Smallville: learn how Superman was undecided little prick when he was a teen! Also, he was buddies with lex!

Pretty much, yep. And he didn't want to wear a costume, except he did wear one, the trench with the sigil'd black t-shirt or whatever. So really he just didn't want to wear THE costume. Because Tub Swelling was a fat bastard and knew he'd look terrible. Black is slimming, see, and the trench sort of hid the flab.

              You have a point.
I will add one more to the list. Karas behavior. She is an adult and yet she acts like a teenager [and not in a good way]
At least in Smallville Clark was indeed a teenager.

At least Kara is moving forward in her heroics, unlike Clark with his one step forward, two steps back philosophy.

Except in seasons 8 9 and ten smallville best seasons, Clark was being very proactive and taking Major steps to become a hero. Yeah in the early seasons Clark made a lot of mistakes but he's a teenager and teenagers makes mistakes all the time. What's kara excuse, in Supergirl? Dumbass.

Clark spun his wheels. He wouldn't even fly, even though Kara was able to, he was too afraid. He didn't put his big boy panties on until the finale. The show was treading water after Lex left and on fumes as Clark was heroic and then not heroic. He was a failure when all was said and done.

IMHO, Smallville lost his charm after they killed off Lex. The creators didn't know in what direction to put a teen drama / slash show about Superman when they written-off the main catalizator for Clark's actions/inactions, so they started to introduce various superheroes into the mix, and that's where, IMO, they failed.

Kara's 'excuse' is keeping her powers under wraps for TWELVE YEARS, dumbass.
That's the trouble with Smallville apologists like you - trash Supergirl and other projects to make your show look better. Oh, and do I detect a little butthurt in you? Your guy never wore the suit and he never will.

From your mouth to the showrunners' ears. Smallville was a pretty shallow teen show, but it would have been a lot more entertaining without Lana Sue sucking ever Clark storyline down a black hole of romantic angst. In fact, it was a lot more entertaining after she finally left.

It is absolutely SHOCKING that tv shows based on comic books would have similar storylines. Oh, my, gosh, it's completely unheard of! In fact, let's not stop at tv shows - let's do movies, too! In fact, Batman's storyline about his parent's deaths in Batman vs. Superman was totally ripping off The Dark Knight Returns, Batman, AND Gotham. Quick, someone, alert the press because hollywood is running out of ideas! They're also running out of different actors, since they couldn't even find someone besides an earlier version of Superman and Supergirl to play Kara's parents. (For the record, yes, I'm being sarcastic).
All that I've typed is as ridiculous as your whole "Supergirl is ripping off Smallville." If you honestly believe this to be true, then ALL superhero movies and tv shows and games are ripping of the comics they came from.

2016 CGI versus 2001-2011 CGI? Not really sure if they need to be compared. At least as far as I remember, Smallville did not have CGI monsters (aliens). In this show they look like someone just dropped out from a video-game or Power Rangers movie 😄

Lois and Clark and live action Superboy had red Kryptonian and Metallo as well.
