Why are some people surprised about the comparisons.
We should not be talking about the tone of X-Men and Marvel/Disney movies by pretending that they need to be the same thing.

Maybe because none of the Wolverine movies took on anything from the X-men movies. Even The Wolverine took on bigotry like a MCU movie. They had one moment of Shingen talking about Wolverine's kind and that's all we needed to know that mutants are hated. Nothing from any of the Wolverine movies takes on a vibe of Schindler's List. Especially when they got the Photoshop all wrong. That poster should only work if Logan has only 3 fingers or the girl's mutant power is to stretch.

Mutant Bigotry was not the main focus of The Wolverine.

X-Men Origins war opening montage had the Schindler's List/Saving Private Ryan vibe.

The film will be influenced by Schindler's List and it's kind of cool.
