That is the only reason why I will continue to watch. Iris and Caitlin.

The episode underscores the show's fundamental flaw - it simply goes too fast (pun only sorta intended).
"The Flash" breezes by plot points, character development, and overall story lines so quickly that little of it lands with an impact.
At first, the show's pace was incredibly welcome - how can they top [insert reveal/plot point] next week? But increasingly, it feels like the show writes itself into corners, and not knowing how to resolve the dilemma they've created for themselves, go back to familiar tropes to bail themselves out. I mean, my God, how many times are we going to revisit the death of Nora Allen as a pivotal plot point? How many times will Barry's main nemesis be a speedster? How many times will Barry be betrayed by the villain? How many times will Barry get the chance to be with Iris and then pass it up for "reasons"?
It's exhausting, and everything about this show feels stuck in an infinite loop at this point.
I'm not "done" with the show, although the move away from Hulu as a platform for airing recent episodes might do that since I'm rarely free to watch on Tuesday nights. It seems like I'm watching mostly out of commitment than interest. Given we're only in season three, that's not a good sign.

Exactly how I feel. I've pushed on through shows before that got really boring but ended super awesome. Like Fringe, banshee and justified. But like you said, they're just playing the same tune over and over, just like with arrow. I can't take it anymore, it literally gives me anxiety hahaha

Wow lmfao! Coming from someone that still watches this low quality show and say it's gold. Your opinions and comments are moot. Enjoy the simplicity of your thoughtless brain, since no one else does.

I'm not familiar with the (present-day) "Flash" comics or the animated movies.
But for those who have a "less is more" attitude towards Iris, the premiere was excruciating.
Like I said, I don't know all the alternative and back stories presented in other "Flash" venues but they might as well make Iris and Barry fuse into a single metahuman, like Firestorm. You can't get away from her!
And they really amped up the sappy, family-values glurge. I found it a bit creepy that "Slugger" is so blissed out living like a tweenage Wally Cleaver (not Wally West) at home with Ward and June.

If there's one thing the ep did, it was confirming that Barris = boring/shoehorned. Good gravy, was it boring. More screen time didnt make them more exciting, it just made the show boring, too. Worse, Barris could have been completely taken out and nothing would be missed.

It was nice to see the ratings drop also. Most of the episode had Barris in it and Caitlin was only in it for 2 minutes. Flashpoint was a big disappointment anyway. The shoehorning was hilarious. They get worse and worse. I didn't know you could fall in love with someone in 10 minutes.

I agree about the pep talks. Way too many meaningful, one-on-one conversations. When was the last time you spoke this way with someone? Maybe it happens once or twice a month? On this show, it happens multiple times a day. I thought Supergirl had too many, but The Flash is even worse. No one can do anything on these shows, even just asking someone on a date, without a pep talk.

                            Agreed.
Since you feel this way as well take my advicedo NOT watch the first season of DareDevil unless you expect this to make up 85% of the show.
Almost the entire show is 2 characters talking.
If you take out action, or even conversations that involve more than 2 peopleyou would only take out a fraction of the show.
Daredevil is good.but its the "two people having a conversation" show.
Have you ever noticed that the people who say "DC is for adults and Marvel is for kids", are kids?

You're joking right? Daredevil is so much better than Flash it's not even close. The dialogue actually makes sense. There aren't crazy plot holes everywhere. Wilson Fisk is bad ass bad guy.

Daredevil is a better show than the Flashsorta.
It takes itself more seriously and is darker and the acting is betterbut The Flash is more Comic-booky. Time Travel and giant shark men and psychic gorillas and ice guns and such.
So it depends what form or entertainment you are in the mood for.
but yes ultimately Daredevil is a much better show.
It doesn't change the fact that over 75% of season 1 is two people talking to one another.

I bailed on Smallville somewhere around season 3, looks like I may have to do that with Flash. I just want this show to be good and season 1 was.

That seems to be a rare occurrence. More seem to really take a nose dive in S2 & S3.
A few shows I watch that actually improved (IMO) after S1
                                      Buffy The Vampire Slayer
                                      Angel
                                      Z Nation
                                      Mr. Robot
Probably Heroes comes to mind as one of the most disappointing S2 with shows I watch.
I think what happens is creators of Shows have years to think/dream of their S1. Then it becomes a smash hit, they rush to write a S2, you have corporate interference on the direction of the show and then you put out a turd S2.

The problem with Flashpoint is that it's ultimately a Justice League storyline with The Flash as a main character. I've seen and read both the movie and the comic a I knew right of the bat that they weren't even gonna be able to do have the story. The simply don't have the characters. The only thing they were able to do was the saving his parents and losing his memories part. And that's as bad as it could have got whereas in the comic/movie it literally brought the end of the world. From now on they'll probably use it as a way to settle a few things out for the show like Cisco being Vibe, Caitlin turning into Killer Frost, etc.
Anyways, could they have done it in more than one episode? Probably but given they didn't have the characters to pursue the full story it didn't bother me that much it was this short. The only thing that would have definitely been better is that Barry should have stopped himself rather than have Reverse Flash do it. Would have been way cooler and also faithful to the story. I reckon they did it to explain his presence in Legends of Tomorrow.
