So instead of the nonsense that they put out. They could have done this:
We join Barry in the present where he has memories of growing up with his parents and his previous life as the Flash. Except he has no powers, he's not dating Iris and their families only know each other as friends. RF doesn't exist Star Labs is run by Wells, the real one not RF. Wally can be kid flash and they can have whatever bad guys they want. Barry is happy and the only thing missing in his life is Iris. At some point something terrible happens, Iris gets killed and it's Barry's fault. Now he's lost the will to live and must find a way to get back to his other timeline or at least save her from dying . He finds Wells and convinces him that he's from an alternate timeline and helps Wells build the particle accelerator. They zap Barry with accelerator and a lightning bolt and he gets his powers back. Now he must decide what to do? Should he go back in time and try to save Iris or go back in time and allow his mom to die and reset the timeline back the way it was. He chooses saving Iris, but the time wraiths are on to him and right behind him. He musters every last bit of energy he has and runs faster than ever to get away from the wraiths and winds up going further back in time than he wanted to. He lands a few days before his mom's murder. He decides it's too risky to try again and waits for RF to show up. He stops RF and resets the timeline back to the way it was.
This could be spread out over 3-4 episodes where Barry can try to re-assemble his team. We can get more in depth information into everybody's life. Eddie can make a comeback at least for a little while and so on. There CW there is your flashpoint take it and I don't even want to be paid. You're welcome.

Yup. Even just having the tornadoes decimate the city would have worked. They wasted the "replicating the accident" last season too. They should have had Barry become the Barry that waves his past self on, making sure that no interference happens, coming full circle with season one.

Yea I agree. That was the biggest let down to Flashpoint was there wasn't any major ramifications of it. There should have been a big disaster. The only bad parts were Joe being an alcoholic and Wally getting knocked out/in a coma (but expected to recover).
If the tornadoes at least caused some big damage or disaster for the city and maybe something else like Iris and/or Wally dying.

I think the implication is that Wally was going to die, but that still isn't enough to trade both your parents for like seriously??

Exactly. Last Wally trade-off was Central City terrorized by Zoom's minions/a lot of people killed. This Wally trade-off was "just" Nora and Henry. And some have no problems with this. Go figure.
