Has Kevin Feigie been asked or said anything about why the MCU version of the Defenders is comprised of these characters and not the ones more associated with the title?
I mean, I understand that the hulk is way outside of the budget and that Dr. Strange hasn't had his feature yet, but then why brand it as "the Defenders"? -

I concur as well, it should be
Heroes For Hire
you could then bring in other street level characters/heroes like Misty Knight and Colleen Wing.
-I highly doubt anything written below this line will change my mind- -

Misty Knight is already in Luke Cage, and Kevin Feige, Jeph Loeb, and Joe Quesada said why they choose to use the Defenders name over Heroes for Hire a few times.
Basically it being because obviously Hulk is going to be an Avenger for a while, but other members of this team are/were defenders at one time or another and they wanted them to have a similar one word team name. -

I am hoping they'll get seasons of the show like 8 episodes per season. We need season 1 of Iron Fist and Luke Cage done. There is to be season 2 of Jessica Jones and Daredevil. Maybe there could be movie crossovers with the Defenders teaming with Spider-Man.

Well I think the Defenders would work well at first, showing that all of them need not be motivated by mere profit and that, despite mostly being strangers, they band together to face a threat bigger than each of them on their own. Then when they get more comfortable working together and they look towards their future prospects, some of them then form the Heroes for Hire.

This is what I came here to say, this is "Heroes for Hire" not the defenders.
For me the defenders will always be Doc Strange, the Hulk and Submariner

Agreed, maybe later could do a Heroes for Hire show with Luke Cage and Iron Fist.
For this series they will likely be acting as defenders of the Earth so the name fits. I doubt they are being hired to fight whatever villain. Plus makes them seem more heroic, whereas heroes for hire makes it sound like more in it for the profit.
Also of the main 4 only Luke Cage and Iron Fist have really been involved with Heroes for Hire, whereas at some point Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Daredevil have been members of the Defenders, so more of them fit that mantle anyway.
