Considering that the defenders will be fighting a mystical enemy, it makes sense for Doctor Strange to appear in at least one episode. It will connect Tv and movie universes, pave way for defenders to appear in Infinity war and give doctor strange something to do in 2017.
Who wouldnt like to see that?

Considering that this series seems to feature not a single one of the actual original Defenders, of which Dr. Strange was one, then that's probably a good idea. Why in the hell is this super team being called The Defenders anyway?
