I actually enjoyed Diamondback

I actually feel like Diamondback filled that 'villain' role the show needed. Cottonmouth himself posed no threat at all. His plans were constantly foiled and he was predictable to every character in the show. Usually we see a villain slowly rise to the top but the show sort of demoted Cottonmouth 2 episodes in. We never got to see how 'ruthless' he could be. He only killed his men and posed no threat really to anyone but his goons.
Diamondback was this deranged blackmarket arms dealer who believed his way is the only way. The kind of lunatic that is willing to kill innocent people to complete his agenda and show no remorse to anyone. He gets his hands dirty and does the damage himself.
Don't get me wrong. He was cheesy and very cliche but that is what I think I liked most about him. He was this mentally deranged thug who found a cheesy way of humorous violence.
Diamondback managed to kill various crime bosses and even blackmail Mariah to fuel his fiery agenda to get his Hammertech guns on the market. Was he working for Justin Hammer? Or was he just a thief? Who is to say. But I do know is that his goal made way more sense than Cottonmouth and Mariah's vision for Harlem. I never got behind the "Harlem is my home. So let me destroy it and out fear in it!" Mentality. At least Wilson Fisk's vision for a better Hells Kitchen made more sense. He wanted to rebuild it into a more luxurious state after the alien invasion. But his vision for a cleaner NY had dark tactics. I didn't get that vibe from Cornell.
Diamondback's goal was crystal clear. Get the judas technology onto the streets at a high cost and use Luke Cage as a catalyst for pushing that agenda. -

I liked Diamondback too. People felt he was cartoony, but I honestly felt he pulled off a really intimidating guy. That mob meeting scene was great. He really pulled of his lines. I just wished they fleshed out their conflict more; in their flashback, there was no indication that these guys had issues; they supported each other like brothers but didn't show how that hate was rampant for as long as Diamonback said it was. Other than that, I enjoyed DB a lot; though I did enjoy Cottonmouth a little bit more personally.

They did that with Mariah and Shades, though. Too bad we'll only see the full result in The Defenders. I think they'll be great main villains; too bad they didn't fully utilise them this season.
