The rainbow never meant exclusively same sex attracted individuals only. Rather it was meant to symbolize acceptance of everyone, all people, diverse as all colors of the rainbow.
I don't care either way about what they do with the flag, but conceptually, altering it was unnecessary because it already included everyone.
The new flag is so cluttered looking and fugly.

I always saw the original flag as symbolizing everyone who was different from cishet. The rainbow with all its colors symbolized the diversity of sexual identity.
