Way better than The Incredible Hulk.

I agree. I just saw it again today. The 2008 movie is silly and soulless. This movie may have lots of weird, artsy editing and is slow at times, but it is leagues over the second film in terms of plot and character development.

To each their own this movie wasn't a hulk movie it was a ang lee movie about someone who turned into a hulk like creature .The 2008 film was a hulk movie so in reality you really can't make a comparison because one isn't by definition a hulk movie .Ang lee's movie doesn't count .Also people have to understand that nolan managed to capture lighting in a bottle with the batman movies .i'd say it was 30% his actual talent and 70% was just luck hes in the same school as ang lee .They are both indie film makers if nolan had done what he did with batman to the hulk movie he wouldn't have been as succuessful .Nolan deals in everyday life situations that's his niche .Batman is just a regular guy in a suit with fancy gadgets and gizmos and alot of money and resources . I think if either men approached batman they would of hit with it . Thing with the hulk is there is nothing real about him that a human could relate to besides his anger .He's larger than life so is his story .In the real world if you get exposed to gamma rays your going to die not turn into a green angry monster .This is out of a film maker like ang lees reach that's why it wasn't as successful as the 08 one .Ang lee shouldn't of did this film they should of gotten someone else to do it . I think people like ang lee and christopher nolan have it in their heads that being original means straying off the beaten path .It's not about stepping outside the box once you do that your no longer relevent to that world .Being original and creative is about taking what you got and creating a new way for us to look at it . Bruce banner got affected by radiation because in the original story he was out in a testing field where a bomb went off .Not because his father injected something in him when he was a kid his father never comes up at all in the story .He never was that siginificant so it made no sense to all of a sudden put him in there .
Humankind cannot bear very much reality -

You would say "30%" of what Nolan did with Batman was "luck?" That may be the most hilarious thing I've ever heard.
Nolan planned everything down to the last detail. He oversaw every single aspect of productionfrom it's story, the characters, the designs, etc. He even drew sketches. No part of what he does is a mistake or "by luck." To say he's meticulous is the understatement of all understatements. That's not luck, my friendthat's talent and dedication.
In case you haven't noticed, Nolan has yet to make a bad movie. I understand that's subjective, but it can easily be argued that none of his films have failed (critically or financially), or that they are, by definition "bad movies." -

Sometimes, I feel that the better Hulk film is the one where he is at risk of Hulking out only when he gets angry, and not when he gets horny or goes for an intense run.

I disagree. The whole thing in this with his father was just weird and also there were a lot of times where Nick Nolte overacted. Especially at the end where he yells at the top of his lungs, "Look at what they've done! To you! To me! To humanity!" Then there's the stupid plotline where he becomes the absorbing man though nobody actually calls him that in the movie. I did find out last year from someone on this message board that Banner's father actually played a big part in comics some years after Stan Lee left. It's funny some people think he should only turn into Hulk when he's angry. When he was first created Banner only became Hulk at night after the sun went down.
Later they changed it so that he got angry and became the Hulk. But then later they had it where he became the Hulk if his pulse got high out of fear or anger. It's kind of funny you complain about that. Even in the Bill Bixby series there were times where he became Hulk when he was scared.

Problem being the Hulk is more of a King Kong, Frankenstein, werewolf type character than a superhero, can't structure it like a typical superhero movie, probably why he worked so well in The Avengers he was a supporting character and less of the tragicness.
Maybe there's some aspects like Hulk vs the army that don't quite translate to live action. -
