      What I'm no DC/Batman nerd.
Lincoln Lee: I lost a partner.
Peter Bishop: I lost a universe!

Then you should not have spoken. You're out of your element, Donny.

That's why I was asking in the first place ^^
Lincoln Lee: I lost a partner.
Peter Bishop: I lost a universe!

Both films are great but since Mask of the Phantasm is set in the sort of "current Batman era" so to speak, which I prefer, I would have to go with Mask of the Phantasm. It is perfect, I love the cast, the story, the soundtrack, everything really about that film. But Return of the Joker is awesome too.

My personal favorite has always been
                Return of the Joker
, mostly because I really liked the Batman Beyond cartoon but I like
                Mask of the Phantasm
as well, although they cover two different parts of Batman. MOTP is about Batman having to give up the opportunity to be Bruce Wayne to keep the promise he made to himself and his parents, as well as the desire for revenge which Batman is both completely devoted to but not entirely consumed by like the Phantasm. ROTJ is about Batman's struggle against the Joker, but in a way it's about how the struggle against the Joker/anarchy will always continue. Like the Jokerz have taken up the mantle (albeit poorly) of the Joker, but the threat is still there. On the other hand, Bruce Wayne tried to make Terry give up the mantle of Batman because he didn't want to risk what he and Tim Drake what through, although Terry refused because he viewed it as much his responsibility as it was Bruce's.
They're both great movies but they cover totally different aspects of Batman.
Life is pain. Anyone who says differently is selling something.

Mask Of The Phantasm has no match. Not even the live action films can match it. Well maybe Batman Returns, but still. Return Of The Joker certainly is no match for Phantasm.
