I do believe he won an Oscar for best actor for Leaving Las Vegas
And then he played the same character in every movie since then. The folks that voted for him that one time must be embarrassed as heck to realize that he wasn't acting and that's just the way he always looks on screen.

His characters in Leaving Las Vegas, The Rock, Bringing out the Dead, Raising Arizona, Con Air, Adaptation, Moonstruck, National Treasure, The Croods, World Trade Center, and Face/Off were all different from each other and he played them fairly well.

I've seen about half of those and they are all the same character. He's just an average mope minding his own business when he reluctantly gets swept up into being the hero. He then mumbles all of his lines, beats up a few people and inexplicably prevails.

No they aren't. Tell me how Cameron Poe( Con Air) is any bit similar to Castor Troy/Sean Archer in Face/Off? Or Ben Gates and John McLaughlin, or Charlie/Donald Kaufman and Roy Waller? Or Big Daddy and Stanley Goodspeed? Clearly we haven't seen the same movies, or your not very good at paying attention to them.

I actually think the performances were good in the movie, just the story needed a lot of tightening up and the direction had to improve - though it was by far at its best on the road. Would have loved more like the final chase, which was almost good, seeing GR in daylight and how it was almost like Road Warrior.

How many actors would even accept the role of Ghost Rider?
Producer:
We have a role were you play a character who periodically turns into a flaming skeleton who wears leather and rides a flaming motorcycle and battles the devil. Would you be interested?
Nicholas Cage:
Sure! Why not? As long as it does not interfere with filming Drive Angry.
A dope trailer is no place for a kitty.
