Why? People use profanity in real life, and that should be reflected in fiction. I feel the same about smoking and guns. People may not like those things for various reasons, but we can't pretend they don't exist.
I agree that it can get excessive, but I don't think it was here.. then again, I'm American, so hearing wanker and tosser over and over again doesn't quite make me cringe in the same way a Brit would.
Smallville is their idea of relevance and relatability. -

noone has a right to censort speech regardless of time. any person that thinks he can is a wanker and tosser and some more words that IMDB would censor. so yes, IMDB is wanker and tosser.

Simpsons used wanker in an episode many, many years ago.
This was written by an American, and an American probably only considers American curse words. I would not expect a script written by someone British to consider american curse words when writing their stuff.

what curse words do americans use that we dont? i know douchebag is very american and not many brits understand italso when americans say fanny they mean ass but in UK it meansum.something else! -

Reminds me of TokyoPop's release of Cyborg 009, in the first volume they had the drunkard GB (yep, short for "Great Britain") refer to enemies as "tossers". I only ever owned that one and there were but ten, and now DAMN expensive! So AFAIK, it was just once, but still left me in the dark as to WTF it was supposed to mean.
I had heard the other before, but not always sure I knew exactly what it meant.

If you are using the "won't somebody please think of the children" defence then you really are a moron. Protip: it is the parents that allow or disallow access to content they feel is unsuitable for their children, how dare you try and censor reality to accommodate for their poor parenting.
Censorship is fascism, nobody should have the power to impose their will upon others and beep everyone who supports it, including IMDB which will no doubt block out beep. -

i agree with the OP. it really jarred hearing chester black and superman using those words, a) i don't think the writer realised how strong that language is, and b) those words were not used in the source material and the scenes was more effective as a result, especially in the final confrontation between supes and the elite. in the comic, after they go off world and supes asks the elite to stand down, chester just says "uh-huh" and kicks superman's butt. the comic is still edgy, without having to use swear words.
before we get started, does anyone want to get out? -

Ignore Starwarsfan777 - he's being aggressive because he's worried they'll put an age rating on this movie, and then his parents won't let him watch it.
