I wish movies and TV would learn. They always make them sound like old timey plantation owners or something. They get our other accents wrong too.
Like, all you need to do is look up a YouTube video these days. There's no excuse to keep having ****ty accents.

I like New Orleans. I don't know about comparing them completely from not being out and as social. I can't afford to evacuate, so no.

Not really. Would you say the same about NY and other East Coast accents? They share similarities. NOLA accent sounds like if you took a New Yorker and put them on Valium.
Your views would fit well in the south. There are a lot of rightards like you. NOLA is a bit more distinct and interesting than the rest of the south except for maybe Austin and parts of Florida.
The Republican government are trying to kill NOLA though.
