can anyone tell me why they really hate it that much?
it's not a money making plot, but entertaining enough to watch it on a friday night with your brain on 0.

I have to agree, i just saw this movie (it ended like 5 minutes ago) and hey, i looked it up here on IMDB first and thought "damn, a 4?!" but seriously, it's at least a 6 in my opinion. Both good and cool effects, some what cheezy but still trustworthy characters. Most defenitly a good movie. 6/10

Wrong! the movie is THAT bad.
With the exception of Man-Thing looking REALLY coolthe movie is a HUGE dissapointment & is on the DOWN side of the Marvel movies list next to the 80s Punisher and Captain America.
Recent:
Man-Thing: 2/10
Fast Food Nation: 4/10
Fear of Clowns: 3/10 -

I was shocked when I saw the movie earned a 4 too. I figured it should get a 1. I've always liked the Man-Thing comics, but even stepping aside from that, there was no reason this movie should have been the utter piece of s*** it was. Horrible acting. Plot holes the size of the Everglads. And no regard whatsoever for source material. The filmmakers were out for a quick buck. Nothing more.

i grew up reading Man Thing comics and I agree it wasn't that bad. it could have been some crap teen comedy but at least it was a proper horror film.
My only gripes really are that the monster was obviously a man in a suit in some scenes and even though Louisiana isn't that far from the Evergladeswhy did they change it?
still nowhere near as bad as some people make out though. -

I also liked the movie.
The change of were it took place probably had to do with the characters or part of the storyline to do.
In the end of the movie you find out that
it was the oil that turned Man-Thing crazy and after it was blown away he was finally himself again. That is why his color was lighter green and the reason he reacted like he did as if he just saw himself.
And the design was really faithful and well done and shows that you don't need CGI for everything!
