Good thing only water can put out a fire…or can it?

Superman resorts to instantly freezing a lake to drop on a huge chemical fire instead of freezing the air with his wintery cold breath to immobilze the fire. For a man that carries miraculous power, he certainly has no common sense. He must have been trained by the 21st century.

Hey "tard", even though Superman 3 sucked, maybe he didn't "suck all the air away" because there were people in the general vicinity of the fire? Still, even though he could have come up with a better solution, but killing everyone in order to put out a fire wouldn't make much sense.

They were just going for the visual. It wouldn't have been as exciting for the viewers if he sucked all the oxygen out.
Also, if he did this, how would the people survive?
Finally, they never presented the breathing in power before (didn't want to use sucking!) but they did show the freeze breath in previous movies so maybe they were trying to be consistent?
Just some thoughts.
Gothamite #3
