Sins of the Father error

I remember Bruce looking almost heartbroken when he looked at the suit, implying that a great tragedy happened.
The "great tragedy" is that Dick had left him after a huge fight they had over how to deal with a bad guy they were fighting. This was shown in the episode "Old Wounds."
I say it's a nod to Jason because they show Dick in his red and green Robin suit in one episode, while the suit in the case is identical to the one Tim wears.
The episode you're referring to that shows Dick wearing the costume is "Old Wounds" and it is a flashback episode. The one they show in the case in "Sins of the Father" IS Tim's but again, it's a flashback episode showing how Tim found out who Batman is. Therefore, Bruce should not have had the costume in the Batcave yet.
Even if Jason doesn't exist in this series' continuity, I'd think of it as an easter egg for those who know the comics history.
As I mentioned in my last post, Jason Todd has never worn this costume. In the comics he wears a costume identical to the costume that Dick Grayson wore in the comics. This suit consisted of a red tunic, green shorts and green booties with a yellow cape.

I get the "great tragedy", but Dick and Bruce have an uneasy relationship and Bruce isn't exactly one to show remorse over a fractured relationship. And as for the costume, Dick never wore the red one either. Like I said, it was probably just a little reference for comics fans to get. The main reason I don't think it was Dick's, though, is that it's obviously smaller than the last Robin outfit we see him wearing, which even in the flashbacks in "Old Wounds" had the green sleeves and leggings. It could technically be his first suit from when he was a kid, but that's probably just reading way too much into it.
And if you want to get REAL technical, Tim actually wore the green shorts and fairy boots outfit for a bit in the comics before Bruce made him a new one, and never even wore a red and black outfit until after Superboy died after "Infinite Crisis". Or whatever crisis it was. Point is, in the show, Dick wears comic-Tim's suit, which he never wore in the comics, and for some reason they felt the need to redesign it for cartoon-Tim.
It's weird, because now, both Tim and Dick wear primarily red and black outfits (neither of which I'm a fan of).
I like that you know your stuff, even if we're kind of disagreeing. -

The comic and the TV series have a different continuity. This IS the reason why Bruce acts the way he does. It's got nothing to do with Jason Todd because he does NOT exist in this continuity.
And as for the costume, Dick never wore the red one either.
I know this. Reread what I said. In the second episode of "The New Batman Adventures" entitled "Sins of the Father" we see a costume that is red and black. This is the costume that Tim Drake wears throughout the series. The costume is shown in a case in the batcave. This episode is a flashback to when Tim discovered that Bruce Wayne was Batman. This particular costume should NOT have been in the case already because NO ONE had worn it yet.
Like I said, it was probably just a little reference for comics fans to get.
It wasn't a reference to the comics because the ONLY Robin it belonged to is Tim Drake.

I don't think I ever realized what your initial argument was. My apologies. And I am well aware of the fact that the comics and the show have completely separate continuities. I was misunderstood and thought that you were arguing comics continuity to prove your point, but that wasn't the case.
My comments about Jason were in regards to the fact that Bruce does indeed keep Jason's costume in a glass case in the comics, so that being there could just be a sly little reference. If you're only familiar with the series, then you'd think it was an early costume of Dick's. If you're familiar with comics, you could think "was Jason around?" I don't think he was, but that's the thing with easter eggs (if it is one): it's there to make you go "I know what that means!" and really nothing else.
To back up your original post (which I must have skimmed over looking for the problem rather than the context), no, it doesn't make sense for that suit to be there. -

Batman Beyond
, Bruce keeps ALL the costumes in cases located in the batcave.
If you're only familiar with the series, then you'd think it was an early costume of Dick's.
Anyone who has seen every episode would know that it was NEVER a costume that Dick wore. He only ever wore the red and green.

And my second comment some people just don't pay attention. Do you know how many people thought that
Batman Begins
was a sequel/prequel to the Burton movies?
But that's beside the point. The only thing this thread has done has proven that I need to rewatch the show, and has made me want to do so. -

About tied with Nolan's films for me, but they're completely different iterations of the character and enjoyable in wildly different ways.
I have every series and movie in this continuity on DVD, including
Superman
and
Justice League
, so I'd be watching this stuff for a while. Worth it, though. -

I love the Nolan movies. They tend to be a little too realistic, though.
