What happened to Conroy and Hamil?

Thanks, the dude in the video is very spot on. That is an opinion jacks. They may have sounded like them since they were capturing the characters through their voice. It is like me saying the darkseid in Superman/Batman Apocalypse sounds like the one in Justice League and JLU since they both have deep voices.

But again it begs the question if they sounded similar.why not just stick with them?
The one reason I can think of is that they wanted it totally separate to the other filmsthat I can understandeven if I think Conroy was a lot better than Greenwood. -

I really don't think that they sounded that similiar. Conroy and Greenwood both had deep, calm voices but that is where the comparison ends. Dimaggio's joker voice is nowhere near Hamill's since his is way deeper. The only similiarity might be in the laugh at times, but then you can also argue that any other actor who has portrayed the joker sounds similiar too. Just because Nicholsn and Ledger also had crazy laughs would you say that their laughs sounded similiar?

Thank you endenkton. I respected both Greenwood and Dimaggio for not trying to copy their predecessors and doing their own thing.

My problem with Dimaggio was that it reminded me too much of one of the random characters he does for Futurama. Not opposed to someone other than Hamil being the Joker but Dimaggio is not someone I'd like to see takeover the role.
Besides Hamil is wanting to retire from voicing the joker, in fact a while back he said that Arkham City would be his last hoorah. (edit: just saw the video, and it mentioned this, and the fact that he has since recanted)

In fact my leading candidate for the voice of Joker would be the same guy who played the role in "The Batman", Kevin Richardson. If you haven't already seen/heard his performance you should check it out, he appears in the first episode which is available.

The video just makes reference to an alleged twitter post though. It is actually me in the video. I did like richardson's voice and the new design but I know it gets a lot of hate from people.

nobody seems to have actually answered the OP's question with any kind of citation or evidence, and I am curious myself. Was it that Conroy and Hamil weren't available? Did the producers deliberately decide they wanted to go in a different direction with the actors? What's the story?

Fair enough. Sorry, I wasn't implying that Kevin Conroy is the be-all and end-all of Batman's voice, I actually think Greenwood did a great job (and DiMaggio too for that matter).

Surprisingly, I actually enjoyed John DiMaggio more than Mark Hamill's Joker here. He combined the hilarious, silly nature from Mark Hamill's Joker and the new nihilistic, psychopathic, embracing-death Joker from Heath Ledger to create a very scary interpretation.
Don't misunderstand though. I love Mark Hamill's Joker. He and Kevin Conroy's characters have great chemistry but I hope to see more of John DiMaggio voicing the Joker in the future.
