The video just makes reference to an alleged twitter post though. It is actually me in the video. I did like richardson's voice and the new design but I know it gets a lot of hate from people.

nobody seems to have actually answered the OP's question with any kind of citation or evidence, and I am curious myself. Was it that Conroy and Hamil weren't available? Did the producers deliberately decide they wanted to go in a different direction with the actors? What's the story?

Fair enough. Sorry, I wasn't implying that Kevin Conroy is the be-all and end-all of Batman's voice, I actually think Greenwood did a great job (and DiMaggio too for that matter).

Surprisingly, I actually enjoyed John DiMaggio more than Mark Hamill's Joker here. He combined the hilarious, silly nature from Mark Hamill's Joker and the new nihilistic, psychopathic, embracing-death Joker from Heath Ledger to create a very scary interpretation.
Don't misunderstand though. I love Mark Hamill's Joker. He and Kevin Conroy's characters have great chemistry but I hope to see more of John DiMaggio voicing the Joker in the future.

Nothing. They wanted to do a animated film that was not connected to the Batman animated series. That is why they got different voices for Batman and Joker. Remember Jason Todd was not in the animated series. So they did not want to connect this to it. Besides Bruce Greenwood was a very good Batman and John Dimaggio was a great Joker.

I agree with you captkirk. As long as Batman and the Joker have been portrayed on television and in movies be it animated or live action, there's always been different people portraying them and their voices but that does not make me dislike their characters . After all, the Joker spoke with a Spanish accent when portrayed by Cesar Romero, but that didn't take away from the Joker character and I enjoyed his performance all the same.
