Who said anything about ebonics? It's more that his dialogue was corny with several cliched one liners after another and with that voice he sounded like a lame 70's caricature. It sounded like him saying "Fool, do we look like superheroes?" should've been followed by a "dynoooomite!!!!" from Good Times. Someone doesn't need to sound ridiculous or say "fool" in every sentence because they're from the street.
The Wire had very realistic dialogue with people from the streets/hood and no one sounded like that. Also, I'm black and from a black city (Atlanta) and I've never heard anyone who sounds close to that lol. It's kind of annoying that black voice actors usually always fall into either the "quiet smart/rational one" like Aqualad or Black Panther then there's the "muscle head or tough guy" who sounds ridiculous like Cage, Icon, and the new John Stewart there's hardly any range or variation, it's just those two types for the most part.

You mention his voice I hear nothing wrong with it so it must be the ebonics. You're confusing it with 70's slang. I haven't heard anything like with Luke so I don't see where you getting this 70's caricature stuff from. I heard nothing wrong with the line "Fool, do we look like superheroes?". So just because Luke is black and said fool doesn't automatically make it 70's "jive". It's nowhere close to "Dynomyte". I've heard character's say fool plenty of times in a action toon. And I've heard pleanty more than "quiet smart/rational one" or "muscle head or tough guy" for animated black characters.

Nope, you're just making the leap to ebonics, probably because we're talking about a black guy. He hardly used any ebonics/slang mainly just corny or cliched lines. The badly written dialogue and crappy voice put together makes him seem like a corny jive character, not just that one line. Several of my friends (some black and some not) thought the same thing before I even said anything, so maybe you don't have a good ear for it. Even if I didn't find Luke or Rocket to be stereotypical, I'd still think their voice acting quality sucks, especially in-comparison to the rest of their cast.

Jive charcters use 70's slang which a form of ebonics. Yeah, Luke harldy used any slang, let alone 70's slang, yet you find him to be a jive character and I find that very odd. Which lines were cliched? And what was wrong with Luke's voice? Luke's voice is clear and understandable and sounds sounds like a tough, strong, steet wise, tall black man. Some of my friends also think Luke sounds pretty good and all the review I read were also positive of Luke Cage and Iron Fist, so maybe you're just being overly sensitive. What can I say, The Avengers crew really captured the essence of the character and Christopher B. Duncan did a great job, mission accomplished. Sorry you and your pals didn't like it.

Sometimes it's not what you say, but how you say it. Black Dynamite is a good example, since he's always using a "deep 70's voice" and sounds like he's from that era even when he's not using 70's slang. I can't say which lines exactly were cliched, since the episode aired weeks ago and I'm not about to watch it again. Most of the feedback I saw was over people being happy that these two were featured on the show, since they're not very mainstream. Also, that the current Spiderman show screwed up the characters way more, but I can't say for myself, since I don't watch that. I'm not being sensitive at all, since it didn't offend or bother me, I simply wish he sounded better. He actually sounds better in the Marvel Ultimate Alliance games IMO.

lol, you better get on that I think everyone will be very surprised. I was saying that in response to "How do you want a street wise black man to sound?" the last time I checked Omar, Stringer, Chris, etc sounded that way without coming off as a steroid pro wrestler with a slight Shaft persona lol.

Luke Cage sounds exactly how you expect Luke Cage to sound in EMH. The fact that you're black and think otherwise just makes me feel like you don't know what you're talking about. That or you are used to Braxton/Carlton type black people.

There you go, I fixed your post for you "Luke Cage sounds exactly how I expect Luke Cage to sound in EMH. The fact that you're black and disagreeing with my opinion means you're wrong because my opinion is fact and yours is invalid you must also think all black people sound white."

Twist words around all you want, but Luke Cage sounded just like a big black dude from the hood, just like he is.

There should be more depth to it than that. That's like saying Reed Richards only needs to sound like a smart white guy or Ms. Marvel only needs to sound like a white chick there should be more to it than that and there is with the other characters. They got Jennifer Hale, one of the biggest women in voice acting for Ms. Marvel, the new Ant-Man sounds good too, while Luke was sub-par at best, which is unfortunate since I like the character and he'll sooner or later probably join the team. If you don't hear what I'm hearing then we'll just have to agree to disagree.

Luke Cage sounded out-dated as hell. Assumedkilla was right on point
