This Forbes article pretty much confirms Earth's Mightiest Heroes is being ushered out in favor of a new animated series simply titled "The Avengers.". I can only guess that this means the original rumors Of marvel making an avenger's in the ultimate spider-man universe is true, along with the rumor that they will be self-contained episodes.
Jeph Loeb is in charge now, and is of the demented idea that kids simply can't handle a serial with multiple characters; to him all episodes must be self-contained and focus on what he terms "the big four" - Cap / Stark / Thor / Hulk.
Why isn't Yost in Loeb's position? -

I swear if they do the same as they did with Ultimate Spiderman I will beep murder the guy.
Ultimate Spiderman is just an insult even to kids, not to even mention how well they handled Doctor Doom.

It certainly feels like Jeph's mentality is that if he didn't create it, it's not good, regardless of how popular it seems to be. To me, not only is that immature, it's downright foolish. If something is working, continue to do it that way until it needs fixing or reworking.
Honestly, I have to question how Jeph continues to be employed by Marvel after the god-awful Ultimatum series. I would really be frugal with what I allow him to touch cause let's face it - the days of great/good Jeph Loeb stories may be long gone.
