Probably Imprisoned him or Banished him. In the comics, he was banished to the Anti-Matter Universe of Qward. He originally got his Yellow Power Ring from there, but since they changed that in First Flight, maybe that's where he manages to rebuild the Yellow Power Ring he lost here in the Positive Matter Universe.

Lets hope that if they do a "Second Flight" surrounding Guy Gardner in the trainee role and Jordan in the superior role they address Sinestro's whereabouts. I'm willing to bet he'll remain a prisoner on Oa.
My hope is that the supposed "Second Flight" mentioned by Alan Burnette indeed happens and it becomes the 2nd in a trilogy of DTV films that will conclude with "Final Flight" or "The Sinestro Corps War".
Think about it, "First Flight" does a tremendous job of setting things into motion for Sinestro's Corps. The Second film could center around a new threat that has a past history w/Sinestro and forces Jordan and his new recruit Gardner to go to the former lantern for information. Then towards the end, Sinestro could escape (maybe with the assistance of a conflicted Guy Gardner which would be a nice switch considering it was the senior officer that defected in the previous film) and it would set up for the third film which would center around him regaining his power and building his army to battle The Green Lantern Core. Could actually work with Gardner siding w/Sinestro and possibly bringing in John Stewart or Kyle Rayner for the third film.
Burnette also stated they would like to do The Sinestro Corps as a mini-series but why would they want to start from scratch when they can just build upon what they began in "First Flight"?

Boy I really hope they do a "Second Flight" movie b/c "First Flight" rocked. I agree that the Sinestro Corps War storyline is just too big for one movie. That was
          one
of the many problems IMO with the Superman/Doomsday DVD. I do think it would take a mini-series to do the story justice. But I think the first film is a great setup for almost anything they might want to do.

When you think about it the voice cast was pretty top notch. I found it even more interesting that Olivia d'Abo voiced Carol Ferris seeing as how she voiced Star Sapphire in JL and JLU. Though she dropped the english accent for this version they could be laying the groundwork for Carol to become Star Sapphire in this continuity down the line. Should they continue on, maybe that could be the center focus of "Second Flight". Green Lanterns vs. Star Sapphires or even The Red Lanterns. TONS of possibilities

              My hope is:
Second Flight - Sinestro Corps War
Third Flight - Blackest Night Storyline
Sure they'd have to condense each to get them in a movie, but those would be great to watch.

I think it's implied. I mean look at The Dark Knight, they don't say it but we know The Joker is going to Arkham.
I know it has nothing to do with the series but in The Brave and The Bold it looks like when the Core catches a criminal they had chambers to keep them in. I'm sure Sinestro was locked up tight, especially since he was the first Lantern to betray them, they wouldn't take any chances by allowing anyone else to hold him. You think about it they had a morgue, it would only make sense for them to have a prison on Oa.

Why did they need to mention what happened to Sinestro. He was beaten and knocked unconscious. Do you think they turned their backs and he escaped? I would assume they would lock him up.

I don't see how they could condense a year long universe wide story arc into an hour and a half long movie.
