When Superman came out in the 1970's it was proclaimed a masterpiece, "You will believe a man can fly"
Actually this film will make you believe a man can fly, the Lydecker Brothers made some of the most convincing scenes ever of a man in flight. One of the very best was Captain Marvel flying down out of the mountains and descending on a speeding truck, no process screen here, it looks like the real thing thanks to the Lydecker rig!
But it doesnt stop there, there is a scene with a device melting a mountain and it was a beautiful piece of Sci-Fi movie making, totally convincing and magical to watch! Simply amazing stuff here, this coupled with a good mystery plot and plenty of action make it to be one of the best Sci-Fi films ever. It holds up well even 60 years later, and it was many years before effects as convincing as these were done again. Well done Republic!

It was a pretty good serial. It definitely deserves a place in film history.
