She was gorgeous! It looks like I'm going to have a little marathon this afternoon and evening.
You asked a pretty question; I've given you the ugly answer.

Did you know it took dozens and dozens of takes for her to get a single line in the movie Some Like it Hot? And she had her back to the camera! They even wrote the line on a piece of paper in the drawer she opened when she just asked a question like, "Where's the booze?" or something simple. She was really difficult to work with, constantly not showing up, or calling in sick, and with her acting coach being on set all the time, causing constant disruption.
But,…but,…so many directors have said that when she got it right, she was perfect! When she delivered, it was top notch. She was absolutely gorgeous, and I loved her in so many movies. I feel like she was taken advantage of and used up by Hollywood, as well. She was a blessing and her life cut short.

I liked these groups of photos as well:
I've seen women try to duplicate the look, wearing the same sweater, but it cannot be duplicated. I've seen plenty of identical sweaters, but they just never looks right. Marilyn's looks like it "meets in the middle" vs the sweater wrapping with a belt.
No one can ever duplicate Marilyn. She was one of a kind.
I also think her death is suspicious, despite her long history of drug and alcohol abuse. Although she allegedly attempted suicide a number of times, I think that the Kennedy clan might have lent a hand.
As far as
The Apartment
, I can't picture Marilyn Monroe in that at all. Shirley fit the bill beautifully. Oh the heartbreak in Jack's heart when he saw the cracked mirror in the compact! That was so sad…

Those were some of the last photos taken of her. Aren't those from the Norman Mailer book?
She was so beautiful.
I agree about her death. I also think that Peter Lawford took a lot to his grave.
The Apartment certainly would have been a different movie had she taken the part.
I'm glad that she turned it down. There was a good chemistry between Shirley and Jack. Shirley and Fred McMurray were also believable together. It would have been a whole different vibe with Marilyn.
