It's a shame the other 50% of the world are not particularly well represented on these boards. Then we could all have a fair and balanced discussion. As it is, I feel the need to speak up for a more feminist perspective, but that doesn't mean I'm a 'mangina', the type of ex5b4pression one might expect from a woman-hater.

Many of the 50% you are referring to on these boards, make a pretty good darn case for themselves, about where they are coming from and how poorly they may represent themselves. The same goes for males and a fair and balanced discussion about any topic will never exist. You sound like this "equality" thing has got you by the short and curlys. It is an ideal and delusion you are living in and equality is not a gender thing, it is a class struggle and that includes both genders. What is it with you man? Where are your balls? Yes, we all know you dislike your own gender, just as much as you dislike some women in your life. Does that make you a misandrist, a misogynist or just a "realist"?

Oh, I am as aware of the class/socio-economic divide and discrimination as much as anyone. I am a social-democrat and feel that the left, particularly in the1c84 US, but also the UK, has increasingly side-lined socio-economic justice and fairness, and that a liberal agenda, which focuses more on feminism, and civil and LGBT rights (all of which I nevertheless support), has been allowed to overshadow the marginalisation of the working and lower-middle-classes.
However, just because I feel so strongly about socio-economic unfairness, which has affected me on a personal level, it doesn't mean I can just ignore the on-going discrimination and unfairness that affects people on the basis of their gender, race and sexuality.
And whilst I may be a feminist, I am an intersectional-feminist who believes that feminism should be seen in the context of other forms of discrimination and unfairness based on identity, and that a wealthy woman may often be in more advantageous position to a poor man. That said, sexism still affects women of all classes, albeit not necessarily to the same extent, and even 'first-world' problems whereby wealthy women are placed at a disadvantage to wealthy men, should not be ignored. It's in all our interest to deal with sexism at any socio-economic level.
And trust me, I am no hard-line, unthinking liberal who is incapable of thinking for himself. There are plenty of instances where I've been accused of 'sexism' for questioning 'hard-line' feminists/civil rights campaigners, because whilst I am a liberal I think fairness, reasonableness and objectivity are more important than unquestioning solidarity.

Meanwhile, the same actress likely dresses half-naked when she chooses to.
Likely? She has provably done so, and it wasn't even a role. It was just the VMAs.

Exactly and it showed her up to be a fool. How dare she speak for all minorities, as though they asked for her as a "special" and "precious" mother of the earth to represent them. She was being condescending and only wants a bigger slice of the pie because she feels self-entitled. If she wants equality, then she will just have to lose her female privilege and be less favored and dispensable in society like men are.

She is not a box office draw card and yet wants to be paid the millions that other actors get like DiCaprio, who's name on the marquee does tend to rake in the dosh. Other male actors have wage inequality too. Arquette is deluded, and for some reason she thinks she is hard done by when she has had a privileged life. This is what happens when people are spoiled and even if she does do charity work, she should be humble about it and not confused.

I guess Arguette has just fallen into the same I am owed something by men syndrome, for feeling so self-superior and self-important for winning an Oscar and being born a "special" female. Most people would hardly know who she is. I guess she must be envious of males like DiCaprio

I agree. It is about honoring their work as actors and film-makers and it seems inappropriate to use it as a political platform. Many films though do raise social issues, so the line can blur. It is just the self-important nature of many human beings and if they think others are watching or listening, they want to put out a message. It would depend on how it is done though and Arquette just made herself look like a fool. Perhaps that is who she is as a person.

I guess even movie stars are just as deluded as the rest of us, yet many see them as voices of reason, as though their fame elevates them to some sort of higher plane of reasoning and understanding. That is why they need to be careful what they put out, due to any misleading and misguided influence they may be projecting.

Most people are generally "ignorant" but I dont mean that in a hateful way
We all have too many problems of our own! Right?
So why should we bother with GLOBAL problems we as a "mortals" cant do anything about them
So some people get their information only from these celebrities..global warming, wage gap (Obama really? REALLY biitch?), rape culture (1 in 5 women is raped), rape epidemics on campuses (even though like 95% of those were lies that were exposed
                                          )
What is making me mad so much?
Ignorance, lies and double standards because pushing this agenda and this narrative will hurt society in a long run
                                          Thats just my opinion..
