I see what the title of the article is, and it says something similar in one paragraph (2nd one), but
she
isn't quoted as saying she lost jobs, now, due to that speech. Only due to what she considers to be the problem already existing.

So she expects for the film industry just to drop everything and give in to her and her warped feminist views and give her a job, even when she has no box office clout or might not be suitable for the roles being offered? She just wants more than what she already has and thinks she is entitled to it, just for being female. She's not even attractive looking.

I didn't see Medium' Nan; but I'd say she would have been made up to the nines to make her look pretty. To me, she is average looking and snaggletoothed. She had her own popular t.v show and still thinks she is hard done by. She had come along way and ends up winning an Oscar and for that I applaud her and was even inspired; but after hearing her misguided Oscar speech and other things I have read, I'm not so sure her character is that great.

I like to know what other's politics are. I do think it is important to know where people are coming from Nan, as it does form impressions. Arquette was out of line and one could even say inappropriate; but it was also her right to express her opinion, even if she is misguided. I suppose I should just have compassion, for her being a twit and I would even say she lacks self-awareness due to how spoiled she is.

I suppose when an actor gives an acceptance speech for an "acting" award and include their own personal politics or agenda's on things, they do leave themselves open for others to question or debate their pov. What I objected too, was Arquette "generalizing" and talking for ALL women, as though they feel the same way. She claimed that as women\mother's, they are the ones that support other causes, like gay rights and deserve this equality thing. She was excited; but it came out all wrong. I'm certain many gay men haven't asked her to speak for them on their behalf and she was being patronizing, to other women as well. She just made a fool of herself, with her equality rant.

I would say so Nan. I question how deleuded she is being though, regardless of how strong she feels about something. I look at Arquette and Streep as compartmentalb68izing and only thinking of their own circles within the film industry and what they do as being important. Older male stars are in the same boat as well, with new, younger talent coming on board as well. That is just the way it is and who else is going to portray a woman as well as a woman? Arquette is at that age when she will have to play mother type, older women roles that are offered her. It is not due to discrimination.

True Romance was a goodie Nan. I liked her in Nightmare On Elm St. 3. I was very disappointed when they cast another actress in the rubbish part 4.

Arquette was terrific in Nightmare 3 and she gave her troubled teenage character realness and believability. It was also nice to see her acting with Heather Langenkamp from the first one. Pity Lagnekamp's career didn't take off. Are you afraid of Freddy Nan? He is not that scary, only in your dreams.
