What exactly did she say that was so offensive? It was an off-the-cuff remark that may have sounded not 100% politically correct but anyone with half a brain would know she had good intentions. People like to nitpick and be outraged by crap.

Wrong. It might be forgivable if it was off-the-cuff but it was not. She planned it. Evidence by the piece of paper on stage. It was a forced and unwanted moment. She took a chance that her moment would propel some change, yet that change has happened YEARS AGO. Just another millionaire completely out of touch with reality.

Oh noes, equal pay for all genders! The world is over!
Although I think an even more pertinent topic the US income inequality between rich and poor as well.
~ I've been very lonely in my isolated tower of indecipherable speech. -

Rascal, are you serious? No strong female characters and you think the film is still good? So, you like bad movies huh? Sorry, but male driven action films with paper thin female roles are beyond boring. I prefer strong characters and great acting. In order to cast the strong female character, UM, you have to cast an ACTRESS.
So according to you Shawshank Redemption or Saving Private Ryan are bad movies?
My wife and I are both Web Designers/Programmers, and despite having equal education and work experience (we both went to the same school), her company pays her a higher salary than my company. Sorry, but just she is out of touch with reality, which makes her acceptance speech reek with self-righteousness and self-promotion. -

@Noir-82,
zeligtony
, is a twit like Arquette and thanks for your response. A sad argument for her to use the presence of a female in a film too make her point. The 2 films you mentioned are excellent examples and also your wage difference between your wife and you, for the same qualifications. I bet you're not crying about it as a male and going on about wage inequality and I'm sure you must be very pleased for your wife. -

Stupid speech from a boring girl. When will these people stop using any awards or talk show for their personal agenda? WE know, we know.blacks have it tough (unless they want to be president), gays have it tough, women have it tough, immigrants have it tough, and on and on ad nauseam.

No, he's right. You can see a pattern in the people who criticize her. All I read in social media and on the media is people cheering except conservatives who can't stand anything coming out of the mouth of "those damn liberals in Hollyweird"

She only pissed off white, old, conservative american men, while the rest of the world celebrated her speech.
Really! Arquette doesn't know what she is talking about and neither do you. She has pissed off those, that have more 'intelligence' than she gives credit for. Of course, she wouldn't even be aware of that, or want to acknowledge it,16d0 because of her own self-serving, self-entitled and self-important notions about herself.
I along with many who doesn't hate women will continue to support her
I along with many, who don't hate men, will not support her.

I am as liberal as they come and I found her speech utterly moronic and behind the times. It doesn't make me hate her or make her a bad person, but it was certainly dumb albeit with good intentions.
