Don't personally know him obviouslybut from reading a little about his life he seems like a great person.
I think he's my favorite actor..always have a smile on my face when I see him. -

He is my favorite actor as well one of the most charismatic, great screen presence, very good looking and the sexiest of all time.
However I wouldn't say he is a great actor. very good yes he can show emotions and be believable in the roles has played but to be great he has to be able to make accents and transform himself to the point of being irreconcilable just like Daniel Day Lewis.
So I'd say Pierce brosnan is very good but not great.
You would say I'm a bitt of a movie snob but I do believe there is a difference between our favorite and best actors. -

I absolutely agree, favorite actor and great actor are not the same thing. I have plenty of favorites but they aren't all great actors. I've always liked Pierce brosnan but I'd not classify him as a great actor. He's a good actor, but not great. He does too much of the same sort of character, all acted in a similar way, to be a great actor. to me a great actor is some one who can do different roles and be totally different, sometimes damn near unrecognizable, and completely be that part. They are often muli-talented as well. To me actors like David tennant, Robert Carlyle, Johnny depp, Robin Williams, Tom hanks, Tom hiddleston, and Benedict cumberbatch are all great actors. there's more I could list but then this response would be ridiculously long ha! Yes some I listed are men who have a huge female following and I do agree they are sexy as hell, but I also look beyond that and learn who they are. They all seem to be decent people who are good to their fans and who also love their jobs. They all are multi-talented and very good at portraying different sorts of characters and do it so well that each character is so believeable and different from the others. That makes a great actor. Id give examples of things for each but then this would be so much longer and it's gotten long enough.

Pierce has so much potential, especially in his post-Bond career, but the show biz people are slowly making him look like Steven Seagal. He does new things for a change after Bond, but none are memorable, especially compared to GoldenEye (which is like his one-hit wonder).

I absolutely agree, favorite actor and great actor are not the same thing.
Im glad we agree on this and seems like we have a pretty similar definition of a great actor :
Someone who can dissapear into a role and diversity in the type of roles they portray though the second for me is a little less important example of it Ralph Fiennes who almost every time plays complex and mysterious characters who are very reserved and takes them time to open up like Almasy in The English Patient and Bendrix in The End of the affair or Villains which make us feel sorry for them like Amon Goeth and William Cavendish in The Duchess.
He does dissapear in those roles and make us forget we are watching Ralph Fiennes but the roles he plays change very little.
Robert Carlyle need to see more of him, i only remeber him for The World is not enough which was a great performance but need to see more of him.
Tom Hanks mmmmm, i think he is more like a movie star than an actor who is liked because of his cute nice guy personality more than real acting but that's just me.
