Goldeneye was a fantastic debut for him. Just happens that he had three misfires after that. I only blame him for not demanding better scripts. He would have been fine with better scripts and films.

Used to love Brosnan. However, watching all the films in sequence the last few weeks, his limitations have become all too obvious. For such a handsome man he's got practically no charm. He comes off as arrogant and stern.

- Connery - Perfect blend of charm, bravado, and sex appeal.
- Craig - The most convincing "tough guy" Bond of the series.
- Dalton - Like Craig, was trying to play it real, and stay true to Fleming's novels - audiences weren't ready for that yet.
- Lazenby - Did a fine job for only one outing. My ranking probably stems from my affinity for his one film.
- Moore - Handsome, and suave, but could not stage fight his way out of a paper bag, and his body is shaped like a Bartlett pear.
- Brosnan - Just awful. See original post. I did see him at LAX last summer, and he did look good for his age.

Pierce was SUPER as Bond! One of the very best. That he was replaced by the current actor is an insult to him, all the previous portrayers of 007, and Ian Fleming. They should have kept him for at least 1 or 2 more films, then brought in someone like Christian Bale, or, if he can play British, Ryan Gosling. Someone who would at least fit the 1c84part. Pierce got a raw deal, IMHO.

This is interesting, he claimed he couldn't wait to take over the role from Roger Moore then when he finally did, he said he was, I quote 'caught in a time warp between Roger and Sean' feeling he never nailed the part.
So basically he never felt confident playing Bond? he seemed just empty, distant and dull to watch as a result with any attempts at humour or charm being forced and not looking natural.
I appreciate the pressure he was under at the time with the world watching but, come on, psyche yourself up, create your own take on the character.
For as useless as Roger Moore was, credit due, he did make up for it in personality and said every line with conviction.
The arrogance and stern nature you mention was obviously a smokescreen for something he couldn't give. -

I couldn't agree more! Very well put. Brosnan as Bond was terribly bland, smug and totally unconvincing as a tough guy and a seasoned agent. He was just a cheesy oneliner machine. And always Remington Steele.

Sounds like someone doesn't like really good looking men?
He is my idea of the quintessential James Bond. How I've always pictured Bond to act and look. Much more so than the blonde little fella.
Bond isn't supposed to be Sly Stallone. He is supposed to look at home in a tuxedo AND have skills. Not necessarily a brawny beat-em-up man. He's supposed to be highly intelligent, agile, skilled with weapons and the martial arts. Bond is not brawn. -

Have you read ANY of the novels?
He is designed as a ruthless, cold-blooded killer.
Brosnan weighed maybe 165 lbs in his first outing, then he just got pudgy.
What does how you look in a tuxedo have to do with anything? -

Can you fanboys honestly see this guy playing the raw, alpha-male bravado of James Bond in Casino Royale?
And can you see Daniel Craig playing a suave Oxbridge educated civil servant who was recruited to infiltrate corporations and mingle with the rich and powerful?
I like Daniel Craig Bond films, but he is clearly different from the other Bonds. He's a former military man who was brought in to be muscle and for his physical prowess. He's not suave or charming. Likeable yes. But not charming.

My very personal reason to love Pierce as Bond is that he was the complete package.
He was sexy, charming, great Looking, had great sense of humor and was threatening when it was needed you knew he was serious when he was about to kill one of the bad guys.
For me he was the modern version Sean Connery who is my other Favorite Bond.
Pierce and Sean will always be my two favorites -

I disagree also, my trolldar is going off. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt on that, and just say you're salty as beep.
I like Craig as Bond, but, these are two very different Bonds. Brosnan revitalized Bond, and GoldenEye was glorious both the movie AND the game! I prefer Brosnan, ever so slightly over Craig. Brosnan had better one liners, more charm, and was just suave. Sure, he didn't radiate alpha, but, he had just enough to make the complete package of what Bond is. I find it a tad and just a tad, more satisfying than Craig's 'pure action'. Brosnan also gave you that feeling that he was never the underdog, never in trouble; everything was calculated.
Anyways, there really is no point to this post, nor this thread. It's all just opinion anyways albeit, you sound salty as all hell.
Brosnan is actually the guy (well Bond) that got me into watches. I love me an Omega Seamaster. The movie, maybe not Brosnan himself, spawned a wonderful game that provided many good memories for me, also.

Are you kidding!!? Pierce was a great Bond!! The lousy scripts were not due to Pierce, but to the idiots making the movie who wrote the scripts!! I think if Pierce was making these movies he'd do a much better job. Yes I can see him making any of the great scripted Bond movies. As for your comment on his good looks Well I'm sure he is much better looking than most of the Bond men, with the exception of Connery, of coarse. Pierce is so damn good looking as I'm sure most of the women fans would tell you. Go watch "Skyfall", and leave your comments of Pierce to the ones who know how great he is.
