Nice to see another post " The Fog " as # 1.. JC always looked down as that film as a failure not living up to the success as Halloween.. to me it is his most cinematic achievement.

Yep, I found it to be a treat to watch. The setting, eerie atmosphere (I just love those shots of the coast), tension, strong characters, music and deceptively simple cinematic techniques all add up to a very satisfying film.
Halloween could be the best of the sub-genre but slashers are not something I'm crazy about.

When Andy finds the drift wood of the Elizabeth Dane on the rocks to me that is the greatest musical film score montage of any film. That is a tall order but that is my opinion, I have been in love with this film since I was 7 years old.. I dont mean to break JC top five folks.. just had to over share.. Tom Atkins is one of my favorites as well.. he always gets chicks and likes to party..lol .. thanks coldpopcorn

If I had to narrow down my 5 favorite Carpenter filmsmy list would go as follows:

                      1. THE THING
                      2. HALLOWEEN
                      3. BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA
                      4. THEY LIVE
                      5. E5b4SCAPE FROM NEW YORK
*HONORABLE MENTION = ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13 & THE FOG & PRINCE OF DARKNESS
Tough list to do because honestly I enjoy many of Carpenter's films overall.
