It was at an open mic one time.
He kept letting others go ahead of him being the scared potato he is.
By the time he got up there it was just an audience of three.
The bartender who was starting to count the take.
The MC who was checking texts.
And the janitor who was starting to put the chairs upside down to sweep.
While sweating up a storm he said, "Hi everybody. I'm Steve Potato… er… Lake. Yeah. Steve…. Uh…. and what did the little french fry say to the big one. Anyone?"
No one looks up.
"You are a small fry. I mean, one of them was a hash brown. Wait. I think it was… Anyway I was on an airplane and I… um….we crashed and I ate someone who didn't disagree with me… Or did he agree… I dunno…. Yeah.. Uh…"
Then he went off the stage as quickly as he could go running out of the club and that was it.
