Was that really him at that French awards show?
The current theories are that that was a clone, that that was a stunt double or impersonator (by choice or design) and Carrey is taking the piss, it's some dude in a mask (no pun), or he had really bad plastic surgery.
What the heck did we just witness?

His appearance is what's causing people to talk.
He's always avoided awards shows and over the past decade if not more, has been making it clear he wants nothing to do with the mainstream media.
His eyes are also greenish-blue in the closeups of him here compared to being brown his whole life. Contacts for this?
I personally think he saw the same plastic surgeon as Mickey Rourke, but he never struck me as someone who'd get a facelift, but who knows.
He's so anti-establishment, I wouldn't put it past him to have his stunt double go out and do this to punk people.

He looks drastically different. That can't be denied, especially in side-by-side photos.
A whole lot of theories are floating around (and of course, they're not all being serious) on Instagram, YouTube, Reddit, and a bunch of other sources. His voice is different, his teeth. He just looksβ¦.peculiar. Could be too much botox, filler and a botched facelift.
